山口県東部に位置する柳井市は、瀬戸内海の室津半島のつけ根部分に拓けた港町です。 日本でも有数の日照時間の長さを誇る地域で、おだやかな気候と、自然豊かな風土に恵まれています。古くから海上交通の要衝として栄え、古墳時代、源平時代、江戸、幕末と多くの人々がここを往来しました。江戸時代には岩国藩のお納戸と呼ばれ、商都として賑わいました。 今なお、往時の面影を残す白壁の町並みや細い路地は、訪れる人に歴史の流れを感じさせてくれます。 金魚ちょうちんの制作体験ではひれや目を貼り付け、鱗などを描きこみ自分だけのオリジナル金魚ちょうちんをつくることができます。制作費用を料金に含みます。（火曜定休日）
