Carrying flaming torches, they parade through the frozen winter streets to the Shrine inside the grounds of Motsu-ji Temple, bringing with them offerings of vegetables to pray for a good harvest as well as good health fortune for the coming year.You, too, have the chance to join in this unique festival! After participating in the parade with the locals, join a special after-festival meal called 'Norai' and learn more about the local culture and history of Hiraizumi as you eat, drink and chat with the local people!
