Soyokyo Nakayama Dam is located in the upper reaches of the Gokase River, Japan's cleanest river. It is part of the Aso Geopark. You can enjoy it according to the season from spring to autumn. The meeting place is the former Soyo Town Hall, now the Soyokyo General Branch Office. It is about 30 minutes from Minamiaso and 40 minutes from Takachiho. "Ise Katagami" is used for dyeing kimonos. It is a traditional craft technique that has been passed down in Suzuka City, Mie Prefecture for over a thousand years. ``Ise Katagami'' is made by a craftsman called a katagami, who uses a chisel to carve intricate patterns and designs onto durable Japanese paper. It is surprising that more than 900 patterns are carved into a single inch (approximately 3cm) corner using a very fine piece of material. This time, we will be dyeing postcards using a pattern carved by Chiaki Imazaka, a traditional craftsman.
