Explore the mangrove forests of Amami Oshima, a World Heritage Site, by canoe and take a jungle tour around the Modama forest, which was the model for Jack and the Beanstalk, and the healing waterfalls. Experience the mysteries of nature and spend a memorable time! ◆Mangrove Canoe Tour In the mangrove forest, you can paddle through mangrove trees and jungle-like tunnels in a one- or two-seater canoe. The observation points change depending on the tide, and at high tide you can leisurely navigate between the lush trees from the water, and at low tide you can land on the tidal flats to observe creatures such as crabs, small shrimp, and gobies. The Modama pods can grow up to one meter long, and their hanging appearance is impressive. Why not experience the wonders of nature in a fantastical forest? ◆Visit Funangyo Falls We will guide you to the impressive Funangyo Falls, which has a drop of about 35 meters.

Hinohara Village is the only village on land in Tokyo. Deep inside the village, on a ridge well over 700m above sea level, lies the old house "Kyu Kobayashi Family Residence". Built in the mid-Edo period (more than 320 years ago), this mountain house is literally an "old house in the sky". This tour, which takes you there by mountain monorail that goes straight up a super steep slope of nearly 45 degrees, is an extremely extraordinary experience that will leave a deep impression on your memory, both geographically and historically, as well as physically. The tour meets at the Tokyo Back Mountain Base in front of JR Musashi-Itsukaichi Station, and includes transportation to the site by private car. *Hinohara Village has been designated as a national ecotourism promotion area, and as an exception, transportation to the ecotour site by car is permitted. (Your accompanying guide, Jinken, is a certified eco-tour guide for Hinode Village.) For lunch, you will be served at the Kobayashi Family House, with a lunchbox of light snacks (Cuban sandwiches) made specially for the Tokyo Urayama Base, and coffee brewed with water that participants themselves will have drawn from a special spring in the area. After experiencing the old mountain house, we will move on to another highlight of the day. We will stop at Kanoto Rock, a power spot known only to those in the know, and walk along the valley using chains. Here, too, you can experience a part of the local mountain worship and lifestyle culture. On the way back, we will cross a suspension bridge over the valley just beyond the Akigawa River from the village and enjoy a foot bath at a popular local hot spring. Once your feet are warm, we will head to a local cafe renovated from an old house, recommended by our guide (Jinken). We will take a break at CAFE POUND, the most popular cafe in the area, renovated from a Showa-era house by the owner himself. A private car will pick you up from the station, and you will be accompanied by a Hinode Village certified eco-tour guide. It will be a very fulfilling day where you can experience the lifestyle and culture of a mountain village. This is a premium tour with a capacity of only 6 people. (Participation is possible from one person. However, the minimum number of participants for the tour is 2 people.)

We are a group of 5 pax and we had a great walk with Kanako san as our guide. We saw bear claws mark on the tree, bear paws print, deer skull and things we would have miss if we were to walk on our own. A deer suddenly ran towards us and stayed with us during our walk and Kanako San told us it not a good sign as the deer might have been spooked by a bear. It was a beautiful and exciting walk for us. Highly recommend Kanako san for your guided walk.

Nordic walking involves walking with special poles in both hands. It is a fitness sport that is said to be effective for rehabilitation and weight loss because it is a full-body exercise that puts less strain on the knees. The walking course is within Noshiro City, but the course changes on each day, and the course includes the city's erosion control forest "Kaze no Matsubara" (a pine forest with a total length of 14 km from north to south), Noshiro Park, and Noshiro's "town center". Enjoy the city of Noshiro while walking. Special poles for Nordic walking are included in the experience fee, so you do not need to prepare poles. *Please wear comfortable clothes on the day. Since you will be holding the poles, it is convenient to carry luggage in a backpack or shoulder bag that leaves both hands free. It is also convenient to bring gloves or work gloves (the poles are fixed to the hands with bands to prevent the bands from rubbing against the hands). *Members of the "Shirakami Nordic Walking Club", which is based in Noshiro City, will also walk with us. ◆Meeting place: Noshiro City Tourist Information Center (inside JR Noshiro Station) ◆Meeting time: 9:10 9:20~ Warm-up 9:30 Depart for Nordic walking in Noshiro City 11:00 Return ~ Cool down (stretch after exercise) and then disband
