This trekking tour covers all of the Shiretoko Five Lakes, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a special protected area of Shiretoko National Park, including the elevated boardwalk. This is the first groundbreaking forest adventure experience in Japan, where licensed guides guide you through areas where brown bears live. You can observe not only the lakes, but also the seasonal changes in nature, such as Ezo deer, Ezo red foxes, wild birds, alpine plants, and autumn leaves. Since the animals are not fed, all the creatures you encounter are real wild animals. Roads and trails may be closed due to brown bears, snowfall, storms, etc. If we know of a closure in advance, we will contact you by mobile device and offer you cancellation (free of charge) or alternative courses (same price), or alternative dates and times, if you wish. If the course is closed after meeting at the site, we will offer you alternative courses (same price) that are available for the remaining time. We may be able to accommodate times that are not listed in the selection column, so please contact us.
According to the Natural Parks Act, each tour is limited to a maximum of 10 people from May 10th to July 31st, and you can experience the quiet forest and lake. Since it takes 3 hours to walk 3km slowly, there is plenty of time to take pictures, and even elderly people and children can participate. If foreigners also participate, the guide will be in Japanese and English. You may be able to interact with foreigners and experience English conversation.
It is not a complicated fee system that requires various additional fees after application, but it is a fee that includes admission fee, lecture fee, and consumption tax. The guide will take care of complicated admission procedures. If you let us know the size in advance, you can rent out boots and binoculars for free on rainy days.
The Shiretoko Goko registration leader who has passed various tests will guide you, such as the first aid method and what to do if you encounter a brown bear. The promenade may be closed in the event of a storm or other danger. If you know the closure in advance, we will inform you of cancellation (free) or alternative course (same price) if you wish. If it is closed after the start of the walk, we will guide you to an alternative course (same price) that is possible with the remaining time.
