In order to protect the natural environment and maintain Shugendo, trekking poles and other walking sticks are not allowed. A local guide will accompany you on the strict Shugendo experience, which can be dangerous, so you can experience Shugendo safely and with peace of mind. If you feel that you cannot go alone, please use a guide as a travel companion or Shugendo leader. *Mt. Mitoku itself is a mountain with an elevation of 899m, but the area where the Nageire Hall is located is a low mountain at an elevation of 400m. We do not recommend going to low mountains in midsummer, as the temperature is as high as in a town on the plains and there is a high risk of heatstroke.
