Awaji tiles have been around for 400 years since the Edo period. As one of the three major tile production areas in Japan, tiles are still being manufactured there. The craftsmen who make onigawara and decorative tiles by hand are called "onishi", and it is a valuable experience to be able to see the craftsmanship of the onishi, who know the soil. Naohara Gyokusei is a master of Nanga painting who grew up on Awaji Island. He is also a Rinzai Obaku sect monk, and at Kokusei Zenji Temple, which he rebuilt, you can enjoy a beginner-friendly zazen experience and appreciate Gyokusei's friendly Nanga paintings that he personally painted. After the 60-minute zazen experience, you will listen to the current chief priest explain the Zen teachings contained in Gyokusei's works while drinking tea, then move to Minami Awaji City Takikawa Memorial Museum Gyokuseikan (5-minute walk) and view the diverse works of Naohara Gyokusei that are housed in the museum. This is a special experience that expresses the trinity of Nanga, haiku, and Zen, and allows you to feel the spirit of "kugazenichinyo" and reflect on yourself. "I want to eat delicious food and live happily in any era!" We moved from Tokyo and are looking forward to sharing our story of becoming self-sufficient and our life with nature. ### Experience Overview In this experience, you will look inside a Japanese honeybee hive in the open land of Katori City, Chiba Prefecture. It is easy for children to do. We hope you will feel the change of seasons through activities in nature. After that, you will enjoy making lip balm using Japanese honeybee beeswax indoors (bakery)! Natural beeswax is said to have moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and healing effects, and has various uses other than body care. After the experience, you can relax on the spacious wooden deck. A female diver from Shima will act as your personal guide as your "Ama Butler" and guide you on a fishing expedition to obtain your own ingredients. Go out to sea with the female diver and enjoy an authentic fishing experience using basket fishing. After fishing, move to your own private beach. There, you will be served a special original menu using fresh ingredients from Shima by the famous restaurant "Tempura Tobari," run by a chef who has been awarded one Michelin star for five consecutive years. You will enjoy a rental villa, a private beach, and full support from a dedicated staff just for you. The instructor, a nationally certified guide-interpreter, will teach you how to make sushi rice, cut tuna, grate wasabi, and make three types of sushi (nigiri, rolled, and gunkan) at his home (a tower apartment directly connected to Higashi-Ikebukuro Station), and have you actually make them. After that, you will eat the sushi you made with the miso soup made by the instructor. You will receive a gift of the instructor's recipe and an easy-to-make kit used to make the rolled sushi. ~Experience flow~ ① Sushi making (about 1 hour 40 minutes) You can experience making sushi rice, cutting fish, grating wasabi, and making three types of sushi. ② Sushi party (about 1 hour 10 minutes) Eat the sushi you made with miso soup prepared by the instructor.
