Learn about kimono trivia while wearing a kimono in Kamo City, Niigata Prefecture, known as the Little Kyoto of Hokuetsu, and after dressing and taking photos, you will have free time. Recommended free time is to enjoy lunch at Yamaju's Yama Cafe, a famous Japanese restaurant nearby, or take a stroll through Kamoyama Park, which is home to Aomi Shrine, where Uesugi Kenshin's mother is said to have visited monthly when she was pregnant with Uesugi Kenshin, and the squirrel park (April to November). You can also see 500 carp streamers swimming in the Kamo River from April to early May, and salmon swimming upstream in November. Wearing a kimono makes you feel like a Japanese boy or a Yamato Nadeshiko! While dressing you in a kimono, we will tell you about the proper etiquette when wearing a kimono and some trivia about kimonos. (Available in Japanese and English only) Children can have fun playing with toys and reading books while waiting.
Kamo, which resembles Kyoto, is called the Little Kyoto of Hokuetsu. Seikai Shrine, founded in 726, is a historic shrine that is said to grant various blessings, such as love, child-rearing, financial luck, fulfillment of wishes, and household safety. The worship hall features wonderful sculptures and a corridor of nightingale needles, making it a shrine worth visiting. Within the same premises, there are many other sights to see, including the sacred pond, Kamoyama Park, Kamoyama Squirrel Garden, Snow Camellia Garden, Sculpture Forest, and Kamo History Museum. In addition, the Kamo River, where 500 carp streamers swim from April to the beginning of May (during Golden Week), is a rare sight that you can touch.
