Plan description

A female diver from Shima will act as your personal guide as your "Ama Butler" and guide you on a fishing expedition to obtain your own ingredients. Go out to sea with the female diver and enjoy an authentic fishing experience using basket fishing. After fishing, move to your own private beach. There, you will be served a special original menu using fresh ingredients from Shima by the famous restaurant "Tempura Tobari," run by a chef who has been awarded one Michelin star for five consecutive years. You will enjoy a rental villa, a private beach, and full support from a dedicated staff just for you. And, with the hospitality of the female diver from Shima and a top chef, we will deliver a premium experience that can only be experienced here.

What is "Ama"?

Ama (female divers) are women who dive into the sea to catch seafood such as abalone and sea urchins. Shima City in Mie Prefecture has been designated an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property for its female divers, which have been around for over 2,000 years, and is a rare region in Japan where more than 200 female divers are still actively engaged. The average age of female divers is an astonishing 65 years old! This program is a plan to enjoy Shima with these energetic female divers. Let's go out to sea on a boat with the female divers to experience the traditional fishing method of "basket fishing."

Satoumian, a facility for female divers to experience diving (*Marinas (piers) owned by each hotel or Kashikojima Port are also acceptable) The meeting place may change depending on the time of reservation. We will contact you after the reservation is confirmed.

If you arrive by car

Approximately 70 minutes by car from Ise Expressway "Isenishi IC" Parking: 20 cars, large bus: 5 cars

If you arrive by train

From Kintetsu Ugata Station, take the Mie Kotsu bus bound for Gozako for about 50 minutes, then get off at the Azurihama bus stop, a short walk away.

If you arrive by other means of transportation

Take the regular ferry from Kashikojima Station to "Wagu", then take a taxi for about 7 minutes.
