Blessed with an abundance of underground water veins that spring up from the Momoyama Hills, Fushimi was once called "Fushimizu" (literally "fushimizu" in Japanese), and it is said that full-scale brewing began here about 400 years ago because the water was suitable for sake brewing. It flourished as a castle town and a port on the Yodo River on the Tokaido, and sake breweries with white walls stand out along the Uji River and canals. The streets of Fushimi, where you can enjoy the atmosphere of a sake brewing town, with ten-koku boats sailing among swaying willows, have been designated as the "Fushimi Minamihama Neighborhood Landscape Development District" by Kyoto City. ~Time Schedule~13:00 [Meet at the north ticket gate of Keihan Electric Railway Nakashojima Station] Meet in front of the sake barrel object located immediately after exiting the north ticket gate! The Village Revitalization Project was born in response to the voices of many international visitors to Japan: "I want to learn more about Japanese culture" and "I want to experience it for myself, not just for sightseeing." The setting is a nostalgic village, about an hour's drive from the World Heritage Site Himeji Castle, featuring a rural landscape reminiscent of Japan's original landscape and a shrine that remains cherished to this day. However, with a declining birthrate and aging population, the local elementary school is facing the threat of closure. This project is more than just a sightseeing tour. It is a special journey that connects you with the local community and allows you to participate in building the village's future through an experience of Japanese culture. Begin with a strawberry-picking experience, where you can savor the sweetness of the season. After enjoying the deliciousness of freshly picked strawberries, take a break with a lunch plan featuring locally sourced ingredients. In the afternoon, we move to a different location and offer authentic Japanese cultural experiences, with daily specials including Japanese dance, shamisen, koto, and shakuhachi. The trip concludes with a tour of a historic sake brewery. You can learn about the sake-making process and enjoy tastings while listening to the brewers' thoughts. It's a journey that connects Japan's past, present, and future. Why not join our Village Revitalization Project and create a new story with us?

The long-awaited cherry blossom season is upon us. Who will you enjoy cherry blossom viewing with this year? **** Oji is known as a famous cherry blossom spot dating back to the Edo period. Asukayama, where Shibusawa Eiichi spent his final years, is a famous cherry blossom spot planted by the 8th Tokugawa Shogun, Yoshimune, for the enjoyment of the common people. Additionally, Otonashi Waterfront Park, where you can enjoy the cherry blossoms at night, has long been a popular recreational spot, offering spectacular seasonal views of cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. First, take in the pink Asukayama scenery from the observation deck on the 17th floor of Hoku-Topia! Next, stroll along the quiet banks of the Otonashi River, reminiscent of the Edo period, to the historic Oji Shrine, one of Tokyo's top 10 shrines. After your visit, visit the Red Brick Sake Brewery (formerly the Brewing Research Institute), which is usually closed to the public. This is a sacred place for sake, which has contributed to the modernization and industrial development of Japanese sake brewing. It was also the site of the National New Sake Tasting Competition, which has now been relocated to Hiroshima Prefecture. For the master brewers who learned the latest techniques here and brought them back to their local breweries, this place became a second home. Listen to detailed commentary from a sake sommelier as you tour the interior of this beautiful, 120-year-old historic building and see the tools used at the time. During a sake tasting lunch at a restaurant in Asukayama, a certified sake sommelier guide will introduce you to a variety of sakes and convey their appeal. You can also sample limited-edition daiginjo sake "Hiei" and kijo sake "Byakko," both brewed with yeast from cherry blossoms in Asukayama, where Eiichi Shibusawa spent his final years. You might find your favorite! *Seating is limited, so please make your reservation early! *While it's difficult to predict the cherry blossom season, we accept date changes (if available) or cancellations up to 48 hours in advance. *Please select your preferred beverage (alcoholic or soft drinks) as an option.
