Plan description

Many international visitors to Japan express a desire to learn more about Japanese culture and to experience it for themselves, rather than just sightseeing. This is what inspired the "Village Revitalization Project." The setting is a village about an hour's drive from the World Heritage Site Himeji Castle. It's a nostalgic village, home to a rural landscape reminiscent of Japan's original landscape and a shrine that remains cherished to this day. However, with a declining birthrate and aging population, the local elementary school is facing the threat of closure. This project is more than just a sightseeing tour. It's a special journey that connects you to the local community and helps shape the village's future through an experience of Japanese culture. Experience a chamomile flower harvesting experience, only available at this time of year. Harvest the luxurious flowers in a field of chamomile. Afterward, relax with a lunch plan featuring locally sourced ingredients. In the afternoon, we move to a different location and offer a variety of authentic Japanese cultural experiences, including Japanese dance, shamisen, koto, and shakuhachi, each with a different style each day. The trip concludes with a tour of a historic sake brewery. You can learn about the sake-making process and enjoy tastings while listening to the brewers' thoughts. It's a journey that connects Japan's past, present, and future. Why not join our Village Revitalization Project and create a new story with us?

Seasonal! Chamomile harvest and Japanese countryside time

Harvesting the lovely chamomile flowers is an experience that can only be experienced in May. In the countryside, surrounded by the fragrant chamomile, you can enjoy a relaxing time. About an hour's drive from Himeji Castle, experience Japan's "Satoyama culture" in this area where traditional shrines and rural scenery remain.

Experience the world of traditional performing arts with all five senses

After lunch, you will have a special time to experience traditional Japanese performing arts such as the shamisen, shakuhachi, koto, and Japanese dance up close. The content changes every day, so you can experience a different culture each time. You can immerse yourself in "authentic Japanese culture" using all five senses, including the sounds, movements, and costumes.

Experience Japanese sake culture at a local brewery

Visit a local historic sake brewery. After observing the sake brewing process, you can sample sake and enjoy the unique flavors of the region. By learning about the depth of sake and the role that sake breweries play in the region, you will gain a deeper understanding of the culture.
