During the Edo period, the Shikama Highway was constructed from the port of Shikamazu to Himeji Castle. It became part of the Silver Carriage Road, an industrial road that connected Ikuno Silver Mine, one of Japan's largest silver mines, to the port of Shikamazu, and still retains its appearance today. This is a three-hour cycling tour that follows the historical road, heading for Himeji Port, where the sea breeze is pleasant, and takes you to a cycling road on an abandoned railway line and a charming sake brewery. <Schedule example> 10:00 Meeting (Introduction, explanation of how to use the E-Bike, various precautions) Approximately 15 minutes 10:15 Departure We will guide you as slowly as possible according to your physical strength and weather conditions. Take a break on the way, about once or twice 13:00 Return and disband Enjoy Himeji as you like! (We may ask you to change the vehicle depending on the reservation situation) (*) Guides and staff on the day will be available in Japanese and English. We are accustomed to dealing with inbound customers.
On this tour, we will follow the Shikama Kaido road from the Edo period, which once flourished as part of the Silver Carriage Road. This road runs from Ikuno Silver Mine to the port of Shikamazu, and was an important industrial road that connected Japan's leading silver mines with the port. We will visit spots where you can get a sense of the historical background and recall the prosperity of the time.
Along the way, you will cycle along a bicycle road that uses an abandoned railway line, visiting picturesque places with historical backgrounds. You will also stop at a sake brewery, where you can experience the local culture while learning about sake brewing and its history in Himeji. You can enjoy the scenery along the way and spend some time relaxing in the idyllic atmosphere.
At the end of the tour, you will cycle towards Himeji Port. You can enjoy the seaside scenery as you ride along a comfortable road feeling the sea breeze. By using an electric bicycle (e-bike), even those who are not confident in their physical strength can participate with peace of mind and ride at a leisurely pace while enjoying the nature and history.
