You can make your own clay holder and add a blade crest. Attach the blade, cut your name on it, and sharpen it to complete it. Although it is a physically demanding job, the swordsmith will be happy to assist you, so don't worry if you are not confident in doing the heavy lifting, such as children or women. You can take photos and videos while working! The trial fee is for one Japanese knife. You can also make one book for two or more people. Spend a full day creating a kozuka — a small decorative utility blade that was once concealed in the scabbard of a Japanese sword. The material used is the same as that used in real Japanese swords & tamahagane, the highest-grade steel in the world. During the experience, you will make a clay base (tsuchi-dai), inscribe a blade crest (yasurime), attach the blade, carve your name onto it, craft a kozuka case, and sharpen the blade to complete the piece. Our studio is the only place where you can experience both making a kozuka and sharpening it yourself. You will learn the Japanese sword-making process through hands-on work. Striking and shaping iron, and seeing the wave-like patterns emerge, is something you cannot fully understand until you try it yourself — making this a truly valuable learning experience. The experience is tailored to each participant’s ability, so minors and women are also welcome — there’s no need to worry. You are welcome to take photos and videos during the process! The fee covers the experience for one kozuka. Two or more people can work together to make one, but please let us know in advance when booking. If you wish to make more than one, please note that it will take approximately one extra hour per additional piece. Please allow plenty of time before the expected end time. It is also possible to start earlier upon request & feel free to contact us.

Blessed with an abundance of underground water veins that spring up from the Momoyama Hills, Fushimi was once called "Fushimizu" (literally "fushimizu" in Japanese), and it is said that full-scale brewing began here about 400 years ago because the water was suitable for sake brewing. It flourished as a castle town and a port on the Yodo River on the Tokaido, and sake breweries with white walls stand out along the Uji River and canals. The streets of Fushimi, where you can enjoy the atmosphere of a sake brewing town, with ten-koku boats sailing among swaying willows, have been designated as the "Fushimi Minamihama Neighborhood Landscape Development District" by Kyoto City. ~Time Schedule~13:00 [Meet at the north ticket gate of Keihan Electric Railway Nakashojima Station] Meet in front of the sake barrel object located immediately after exiting the north ticket gate! This is where the tour begins! It's a flat road, but you'll be walking about 2 kilometers, so please wear comfortable shoes on the day. 13:15 [Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum] ☆Three types of sake tastings, including Daiginjo, and a special Gekkeikan sake cup included☆The building is a wooden storehouse built in the Meiji era that is still in use. You can drink the underground water used in sake brewing from the well in the courtyard. Just like Fushimi sake, it is very soft and delicious, so please try it. You will be surprised at how soft it is. In the exhibition room, you can see traditional sake brewing tools, which are designated as tangible folk cultural properties of Kyoto City. 13:50 [Fushimi Yume Hyakushu] ☆Winter limited sake ice cream included☆Shop & cafe "Fushimi Yume Hyakushu". In fact, this building is the former main store of Gekkeikan, built in the Taisho era. In addition to Gekkeikan, various Kyoto sakes and souvenirs are sold in the store. We have prepared a 3-type sake tasting set including appetizers here. 14:30 [Kizakura Kappa Country] ☆Kyoto's oldest local beer included☆ Kiizakura is famous for its sake commercials using kappa characters, but it is also the first company to make local beer in Kyoto. Therefore, in addition to the sake manufacturing process, Fushimizugura is characterized by the fact that you can tour the beer factory. After the tour, try tasting sake and beer in the lovely courtyard. 15:15 [Aburacho] ☆Authentic sake tasting set of three types☆ We have more than 80 types of sake from all 18 breweries in Fushimi, mainly ginjo sake and daiginjo sake, and more than 100 types including seasonal limited edition sake. In addition, at the sake tasting counter attached to the store, you can compare three types in small cup size as well as a glass. Just looking at the bottles will make you feel happy.

Japanese swords are works of art made of iron. By listening to the explanation of the production process of this work of art that has been handed down since ancient times, you will be able to understand the highlights of swords and the points to appreciate them. You can also observe the forging process (the process of stretching, bending, and gluing steel), which is one of the processes of making Japanese swords. Please take a photo of the sparks. The moment when the sparks fly is only for a moment. It may be difficult to show the process again, so please do not miss it. We recommend the video. In addition, you can experience using a large hammer to strike the iron. We will also accept questions such as why Japanese swords become such hard and strong blades, and why the price differs! If you apply for the "Small knife making experience" or "Kitchen knife making experience" at the same time, you will receive a half price. Please apply from the "Small knife making experience" or "Kitchen knife making experience" options.

The reason why requests from world brands come in... Kokura Orimono's strength lies in jacquard silk fabrics. An industrial jacquard loom has 14,200 warp (vertical) threads, with weft (horizontal) threads moving back and forth between them. There is slight unevenness in thickness. The craftsman adjusts them while threading, and operates the loom while keeping an eye on it to ensure that it runs smoothly. Today, there are almost no highly specialized craftsmen even within the production area, which is one of the reasons why Kokura Textile receives requests from world-famous brands. Why not visit Kokura Orimono to meet these rare and highly skilled craftsmen? *For foreign nationals: Information on the day will be in Japanese only.

Iron is a human invention. People have walked with iron, as it is said, "Whoever controls iron controls the world." A Japanese sword cannot be made good unless it is made of iron using the traditional ironmaking method. With this plan, you can experience making iron from iron sand using the traditional iron-making method. Repeat the work of cutting charcoal into small pieces and adding iron sand to determine the "steel" part from the finished lump "kera". You can take the finished product home with you.
