This is a calligraphy experience class taught by Saori, a calligrapher who serves as a tourism ambassador for Tochigi Prefecture. Using her experience teaching calligraphy to foreigners, Saori will carefully teach you how to hold the brush, explain the tools you need, and give you basic writing techniques, and you will also receive a one-of-a-kind souvenir. All tools will be provided, so please feel free to join us.

Do you want to experience the deep side of Japan? In this city where you hardly ever see foreigners, this is the first public calligraphy experience activity where you can meet a calligraphy master. ● Artist "MADARA" presents a stylish and artistic calligraphy lesson that touches on the history and culture of calligraphy. The first half of the activity will be about the history of calligraphy and a calligraphy lesson. In the second half, Madara, the only calligrapher in Japan who practices the art of calligraphy, which brings happiness, will convert your name into kanji and create a scroll drawn in calligraphy. In addition, Madara is also a colorful Japanese ink painter, so this is a workshop where you can create a tote bag, T-shirt, or hand towel that is one of a kind in the world, with a design that combines MADARA's drawing with your kanji name. In the workshop, you will enjoy Japanese sweets and tea while experiencing the experience, so there is no need to be nervous. Would you like to try calligraphy? After choosing your favorite characters from the sample and practicing, you can finish by writing them on colored paper and taking them home. You can also write your name in "Hiragana" on your work! After the calligraphy experience, we will provide you with matcha tea and Japanese sweets (nerikiri). If you would like to try making matcha tea, we will teach you, so it will be a rare opportunity to enjoy the matcha that you made yourself! This is a workshop where you can experience calligraphy in a short time in Namba. Even if you are a beginner, you can rest assured that the instructor will give you detailed instructions. Writing Japanese using a brush and ink is an unforgettable experience. In this workshop, you will not only experience calligraphy, but also learn how to write your own name in kanji or katakana. At the end of the workshop, students will create a one-of-a-kind handwritten souvenir by writing their name on colored paper or on a name tag. Write your own name in Japanese and take it home with you, along with your memories of Japan. Dotonbori, Nihonbashi, and Kuromon Market are close by, so you can go to those areas before or after the workshop, so you can make the most of your day!

Why not experience Japanese culture to make memories of your trip? Calm your mind and listen to the sound of the brush. ~Schedule~ ①Plan explanation ・Decide which kanji to write while looking at the sample (5 minutes) ②Start practicing on the washi paper (20 minutes) After an explanation of how to use the brush, you will practice freely on the characters you want to write. Even if it's your first time, you can practice as many sheets as you like with free expression. ③Lesson before finishing the final work and explanation of the points to finish the work ・Final copy (10 minutes) ④Origami experience (15 minutes) Choose your favorite chiyogami paper and fold your favorite origami work (lecture included) Paste it on the calligraphy colored paper and complete the work ⑤Commemorative photo (10 minutes) The time is only a guide. 3 minutes walk from JR Omori Station, Tokyo①A calligraphy experience class will be held in the grounds of Omori Sanno Hie Shrine. In an ancient Japanese-style room, you can write kanji and kana using real brushes, Japanese paper, ink, and inkstones. All tools will be provided here, so please come empty-handed. You can take home the work you have written (if you wish, we will provide a frame and a seal). The instructor is a Bunka Calligraphy Higher Master and also teaches at several calligraphy classes in Tokyo. ②On the second floor of the same building, we hold lessons for the Iwama-ryu Aikido class, and if the time is right, you can also observe and experience it. In addition to physical techniques, there are also weapon techniques (using swords, canes, and daggers). ③In addition, simple tea utensils will be provided upon request, so you can experience the tea ceremony by making your own matcha. ④Nearby is Omori Shell Mound Park, where you can take a stroll and feel the Jomon period. Since it is not a famous Japanese landmark, you can quietly experience Japanese culture in a hidden sacred place that only those in the know know about. Have you ever seen a huge calligraphy performance? Opportunities to experience calligraphy performance are limited, and it is something everyone should experience at least once in their life. Calligraphy performance is more than just writing, it is an art that reflects your heart. You can also relieve your daily fatigue and stress and have a dynamic and powerful experience. In this calligraphy performance experience, you will be able to write on one full sheet of paper (69cm x 136cm) and two pieces of paper cut in half (34.5cm x 136cm). You can take home your finished work. At the end of the experience, please add your name to the giant calligraphy work that I created, measuring approximately 2.5m x 5m. Experience location: The event will be held at a former Japanese confectionery store in Sadogashima, Niigata Prefecture. You can reach us by car or bus, and the bus stop is a 5-minute walk away. There is also free parking, which can be reached in just 30 seconds on foot. Language: You can choose from Japanese or English. Note: If the experience is for about 4 people, it will take about 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes. We can accommodate groups of 10 or more, but it may take longer than planned, so if you have a large group, please contact us in advance.
