[Ishigaki Island Long-legged Shrimp Fishing & Light Trekking] Duration: Approximately 3 hours. Held twice a day, in the morning and afternoon. A half-day long-legged shrimp fishing & trekking tour that can be enjoyed on Ishigaki Island in Okinawa Prefecture. Beginners are welcome, and rental equipment is included! No special preparation is required. Since it is a mountain tour, it can be held even if the sea is rough with strong winds! Those who have suddenly changed their plans are also welcome. ・Arakawa Falls on the northwest side of Ishigaki Island. There are two waterfalls, one upstream and one downstream. When you think of waterfalls, you think of Iriomote Island. In fact, there is a magnificent waterfall on Ishigaki Island as well. While trekking to this waterfall full of negative ions, you will climb and fish for long-legged shrimp. ・The main target is the [Konjin Long-legged Shrimp], the largest long-legged shrimp in Japan, and is only found in Okinawa and the Yaeyama Islands. It is a large species with a body length of over 15 cm, and some that can exceed 30 cm when stretched out. Written in kanji, it is called "Konjin Tenagaebi" (golden god long-legged shrimp). A swordsmith will teach you the techniques of Japanese sword making and spend a whole day making a short sword with a blade length of less than 30 cm. During the experience, charcoal cutting, tamaheshi, tsutsubokashi, forging, unbending, fire making, soil placement, quenching, and blacksmith sharpening will be performed. The sword will then be registered and sharpened at a later date, and will be shipped to your home along with a registration certificate. If you select an option, you can also choose a Japanese sword such as a wakizashi (large) (small), katana, or tachi. We are currently running a special campaign that includes a set of OWD and AOW courses. For the Advanced Open Water Diver Course, you can choose five of the more than 20 adventure dives available. Spend a full day creating a kozuka — a small decorative utility blade that was once concealed in the scabbard of a Japanese sword. The material used is the same as that used in real Japanese swords & tamahagane, the highest-grade steel in the world. During the experience, you will make a clay base (tsuchi-dai), inscribe a blade crest (yasurime), attach the blade, carve your name onto it, craft a kozuka case, and sharpen the blade to complete the piece. Our studio is the only place where you can experience both making a kozuka and sharpening it yourself. You will learn the Japanese sword-making process through hands-on work. Striking and shaping iron, and seeing the wave-like patterns emerge, is something you cannot fully understand until you try it yourself — making this a truly valuable learning experience. The experience is tailored to each participant’s ability, so minors and women are also welcome — there’s no need to worry. You are welcome to take photos and videos during the process! The fee covers the experience for one kozuka. Two or more people can work together to make one, but please let us know in advance when booking. If you wish to make more than one, please note that it will take approximately one extra hour per additional piece. Please allow plenty of time before the expected end time.
