"Studio Seikan" is a facility with a workshop, shop and cafe, where you can visit the manufacturing site of Yamanaka lacquerware, experience woodturning, shop, and enjoy cafe and sweets with lacquerware. This course includes a workshop tour (with explanation) - making a vase - lacquerware experience at the cafe (one drink included). Lacquerware craftsmen work here every day. In this experience, you can observe them up close and learn about lacquerware production. The staff will explain it in an easy-to-understand way. Next, you will make your own original lacquered chopsticks at the place where the craftsmen actually work. Think about the design of the chopsticks and paint them with real lacquer. You can experience authentic lacquer painting. The lacquer craftsmen will teach you carefully, so you can make them yourself until they are completed. You will surely be satisfied. It's fun. After that, you can enjoy drinks made with lacquerware at the cafe and taste sweets. Please relax and enjoy the lacquerware experience. Please feel free to ask the staff or craftsmen if you have any questions. Lacquer can cause a rash, but we check beforehand and use gloves to prevent it from coming into contact with the skin, so even small children can experience it. We start by splitting real bamboo and making a platform for nagashi somen! We harvest the vegetables to be cooked in the pesticide-free vegetable field and cook them together. The menu is vegetarian (vegan). Enjoy freshly picked seasonal vegetables. Nagashi somen is an experience where you neatly assemble split bamboo and eat the noodles that flow under water. The nagashi somen platform made from real bamboo is very beautiful, fun and a wonderful experience. After the meal, you can also try your hand at bamboo crafts if you wish.

You can actually use a Japanese sword, which is said to be the soul of the samurai, and try cutting it. The experience of touching the soul of the samurai will surely transform you. Tennen Rishin-ryu swordsmanship, which began in the Edo period, is still passed down today, and at the Tennen Rishin-ryu Hino Dojo, students of the school hone their swordsmanship skills. You too can learn Tennen Rishin-ryu at an actual dojo. The swordsmen who trained Tennen Rishin-ryu in Hino formed the Shinsengumi, which was said to be the strongest group of swordsmen at the end of the Edo period, and were called the last samurai. By experiencing swordsmanship in Hino, the hometown of the Shinsengumi, you can feel the history and culture of the last samurai. The experience program is led by Masao Inoue, a descendant of Shinsengumi leader Genzaburo Inoue and chairman of the Tennen Rishin-ryu Hino Dojo.
