Naohara Gyokusei is a master of Nanga painting who grew up on Awaji Island. He is also a Rinzai Obaku sect monk, and at Kokusei Zenji Temple, which he rebuilt, you can enjoy a beginner-friendly zazen experience and appreciate Gyokusei's friendly Nanga paintings that he personally painted. After the 60-minute zazen experience, you will listen to the current chief priest explain the Zen teachings contained in Gyokusei's works while drinking tea, then move to Minami Awaji City Takikawa Memorial Museum Gyokuseikan (5-minute walk) and view the diverse works of Naohara Gyokusei that are housed in the museum. This is a special experience that expresses the trinity of Nanga, haiku, and Zen, and allows you to feel the spirit of "kugazenichinyo" and reflect on yourself. Naohara Gyokusei is a master of Nanga painting who has ties to Awaji Island. If you have the courage, you can also dive into the waterfall! It is an outdoor rental sauna in the great outdoors. The average sauna temperature is over 110°C and over 120°C. *The boat is currently heated. You can enjoy a comfortable stay even in winter. The first of our best day trip plans for Hamamatsu is a special plan where you can stay in the secret boathouse "BOATHOUSE" built on the shores of Lake Hamana. This boathouse cannot be reached by land. It is an adventurous way to arrive, approaching by boat and then transferring to a kayak or rubber boat to land. Although it is an old building, it has been fully renovated and is now able to welcome only one group of guests. *Tour duration: 2 hours cruising + 3 hours stay in the boathouse, totalling 5 hours (private hire). *The tour can be held even in rainy weather. It is a very fun winter plan that climbs Mt. Ogawa with an altitude of 1542m in Gokase-cho, which is famous for heavy snowfall while wearing snowshoes, makes and eats hot sandwiches at the summit, and descends while sliding on a sled.
