Why not paint papier-mâché, a lucky charm, with an original design at Asakusa's popular Japanese culture experience cafe? Papier-mâché is a piece of paper made from a frame made of wood or other materials and covered with Japanese paper. It originally originated in China, but is said to have come to Japan during the Heian period. They come in many shapes, but many are in the shape of animals, and they have come to be valued as lucky charms. First, choose the plain body of your choice. Once you have decided on the body, use your imagination and color your ideas with paint. The staff will support you, so even beginners can enjoy creating. Papier mache is hollow and very light, so it is very popular as a souvenir from travel. [Selectable Body Types] ▶Daruma The ``Daruma'' has been valued as a talisman and auspicious item since ancient times because of its rounded shape, which means that it can get back up again and again even if it falls down. Papier-mâché daruma dolls have the meaning of warding off evil spirits, family harmony, and having wishes come true, so they are used for general wishes such as prosperous business and sure victory. ▶Maneki Neko Cats were used as lucky charms for sericulture in ancient times, as they exterminated rats that ate crops and silkworms, but after sericulture declined, they became a lucky charm for business prosperity. There is a theory that beckoning cats were originally made using a pottery method called Imado ware, which was produced around Imado Town in Asakusa. *Contains opinions▶ Fox masks Fox masks are used in Nohgaku (general term for Noh and Kyogen) and Kagura (dances and songs performed to worship gods). At Inari shrines, they are often considered to be auspicious objects, as if they are enshrined as messengers of the gods. Additionally, the fox mask is said to bring blessings such as a rich harvest, prosperous business, and safety for the family. *Depending on stock availability, we may not be able to provide the body you desire.

There are few local foods that are as popular as this one, and for a long time, "oneri for breakfast, barley rice for lunch, and pumpkin hoto for dinner" seemed to have been the standard for daily life in the rural areas of Koshu. In 2007, it was selected as one of the "100 Best Local Dishes of Rural Areas" organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, which are known in farming, mountain and fishing villages all over Japan and are widely supported by the people. This was a really fun experience. You can make either a mug, bowl or tea cup out of clay. You knead the clay with your hands rather than shape it on a potter’s wheel. The teacher was very patient and encouraging despite our clumsy efforts. You can personalise the object by adding your name and other designs like flower imprints or stripes. You can also choose the colour of the glaze. Firing the object will take a few days, but they can post the finished product to you even if you live outside Japan. I highly recommend this activity.

Nokogiriyama is known as a lesser known mountain on the Boso Peninsula. With its jagged ridgeline resembling the teeth of a saw, and the remains of the quarry where Boso stone was quarried by the stone-cutting industry until the Showa era, it looks like an abandoned building, and this otherworldly space that appears in the middle of nature has become popular. On this tour, you will pass through the streets of Kanaya, which once flourished as a stone-cutting industry, and climb the "Sharikko Road," a road that once transported quarried stone, with a guide. While enjoying the climb, which is low above sea level but has a large elevation difference, you will feel the breath of the craftsmen of the time, and trace the history of how Boso stone supported Japan's modernization and declined over time.

(5 minutes) The teacher will write a sample of the desired calligraphy style and decide the activity content. ③Start practicing on Hannsi (Japanese calligraphy paper) (20 minutes) You will practice freely while adding explanations of brushes and kanji. Even if it's your first time, you can practice as many sheets as you like with free expression. ④A lecture before finishing the final work and an explanation of the points to finish the work. (10 minutes) If you would like to do a large-scale wall calligraphy performance, we will hold a first trial performance. If you wish, we will hold a lecture before finishing your work, such as making Shikishi (traditional Japanese square paper), postcards, or Sensu (traditional Japanese holding fan). After that, you can practice on special paper. Enjoy free expression. ⑤ Completion of the work and a commemorative photo. The finished work will be stamped with a finishing seal, and you will be given a commemorative photo and a digital video upon request. *We can also set a "time extension" for the leisurely time upon request. Anyone can easily make sushi, so you don't have to worry about making temari sushi for the first time. Shape fresh sushi toppings and red vinegar rice into a round temari-like shape by exposing or using plastic wrap. ``Temari'' is a toy that has existed in Japan for a long time, and is a beautiful ball of thread wrapped in a geometric pattern. Sushi that looks like this is called temari sushi. It is not difficult as the staff will support you carefully. Add color and elegance with safe and secure edible flowers, ``edible flowers from Tokyo.'' A pottery experience using lava glaze that is probably not found anywhere else in the world. Starting with Lucie Lee in the past, Adam Silverman of NY is famous for lava glaze in modern times. Please search for it. This is the expression of the glaze surface of works that are traded for tens of thousands to 300,000 yen. At MONO FACTORY, I have created a glaze that effervescent glaze that I have sublimated to my own taste after 17 years of failure. The effervescence is large and you can create unique flower pots, objects, and other works.
