Plan description

Nokogiriyama is known as a lesser known mountain on the Boso Peninsula. With its jagged ridgeline resembling the teeth of a saw, and the remains of the quarry where Boso stone was quarried by the stone-cutting industry until the Showa era, it looks like an abandoned building, and this otherworldly space that appears in the middle of nature has become popular. On this tour, you will pass through the streets of Kanaya, which once flourished as a stone-cutting industry, and climb the "Sharikko Road," a road that once transported quarried stone, with a guide. While enjoying the climb, which is low above sea level but has a large elevation difference, you will feel the breath of the craftsmen of the time, and trace the history of how Boso stone supported Japan's modernization and declined over time.

The observation deck offers a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji and Tokyo Bay!

From the observation deck you can get a panoramic view of Tokyo Bay, and if the weather is good you can see the Miura Peninsula and Mt. Fuji on the opposite shore.

The guide's explanations will help you understand the historical background!

Along the way, you may come across piles of rocks, rusted machinery that is no longer in use, or letters carved into the rock face, but what on earth are they? With a guide, you can ask all sorts of questions that you wouldn't find out if you just passed by!

There are plenty of photo spots!

There are many photo spots on Mount Nokogiri, including the famous "Hell's Peek." If you go with a guide, they will help you take photos!
