At the local cooking experience class [Fujiya], you can experience making "Hoto", a local dish of Yamanashi Prefecture! Hoto is loved by many people as a local dish of Yamanashi Prefecture. There are few local foods that are as popular as this, and it seems that for a long time it was the standard form of daily life in Koshu farming villages that ``onigiri in the morning, barley rice in the afternoon, and pumpkin hoto in the evening''. In 2007, it was selected by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries as one of the "Top 100 Local Cuisines of Rural Villages" that has been passed down in rural areas throughout Japan and is widely supported by the public. Hoto noodles are different from regular noodles in that they do not need to rest. Therefore, we will make noodles by hand from the powder state. The very popular [Yamanashi Set] comes with Koshu's famous boiled chicken offal and Fuji family's black honey soybean flour mochi. The content will be quite large, so please come on an empty stomach. Please enjoy the hoto experience as a memory of your trip to Yamanashi.
The most attractive thing about the experience is that you can "hand-make" the hoto noodles yourself. The taste of the hoto you made yourself is exceptional, so please come hungry!
At our restaurant, we recommend the set menu that includes boiled chicken offal, assorted tempura, giant chicken tempura, and Fujiya's black honey soybean flour mochi.
Many beginners and small children also participate in this experience. In addition, participation in groups such as school trips, employee trips, and sightseeing tours will be very exciting. We also have English-speaking staff, so customers from overseas are also welcome.

Made from powder Each customer will be asked to make handmade noodles from the powdered state. The hoto you made yourself is exceptional.

Safe for small children Not only small children but also beginners of cooking will be able to participate with peace of mind as the staff will carefully lecture.

2 people ~ groups are welcome Groups such as school trips, employee trips, and sightseeing tours can accommodate up to 50 people. Participation by small groups such as families, couples, parents and children is also welcome.

Lots of scenic spots on Mt. Fuji! Lake Kawaguchi near the venue is a famous scenic spot on Mt. Fuji. It is a spot visited by many tourists from home and abroad, so please stop by before and after the experience.

Please freshly made Hot hoto warms from the core of the body. There are a lot of vegetables, so it's very voluminous. Please come hungry.
Time schedule

Arrive at the experience venue Please come to the venue 10 minutes before the start of the experience. Please contact us in advance if your arrival is delayed, as there are reservations available. The Fuji family store is a traditional Japanese house. As soon as you arrive, we will wash your hands at the entrance and guide you to the experience venue.

Watch video Before making hoto, please use a bidet that summarizes the greetings from the staff and the characteristics, history, and Fuji family of hoto. If you have any concerns about hoto or want to know more, please feel free to ask the Fuji family staff!

Making hoto dough In the Fuji family hoto making experience, each person will make their own dough and noodles. (For example, two people do not make one dough.) Speed is important for making dough. Mix quickly and carefully so that the water and flour blend well.

Roll out the hoto dough Once you have the hoto dough, use a rolling pin to spread the dough. The noodles are very thin compared to udon noodles, so you can almost extend them to pechanko. When you put your weight on it, the fabric will stretch smoothly, so it is recommended to stretch it while standing on your knees!

Cut the hoto dough When you have a thin dough, cut it with a knife at the end. The width is just right to match the width of the index finger. However, there are no strict rules regarding the width of hoto noodles, so you can cut them freely.

Completion of hoto noodles The hoto noodles are complete! Please take a picture with the cut noodles. This is the end of the hoto making experience. Next, prepare to boil the hoto in the dining room.

Boil hoto noodles When boiling hoto, we will boil the hoto in groups of two, three, and four. When the hoto soup is boiling, add the handmade noodles. Immediately after adding the noodles, the noodles tend to stick to each other, so loosen them with chopsticks.

Add hoto ingredients After loosening the hoto noodles, add the hoto ingredients at the end. There are no rules for hoto ingredients, but pumpkin is a must. Add the noodles and boil for about 10 minutes. While boiling, the bottom of the pan is easy to burn, so stir it with chopsticks. It's almost time to complete the hoto!

Completion of hoto! The handmade hoto is completed! Hoto soup has the characteristic that the noodle flour (potato starch) melts and becomes a little thicker. Since it warms from the core of the body, it is basically eaten as a winter dish.

The all-purpose spicy seasoning "Suridane" is recommended! There are many "Yoshida no udon" shops in the Fujiyoshida / Kawaguchiko area. The spicy taste of the specialty called "Suridane" is always present at Yoshida's udon shop. The Fuji family also offers 10 types of original m sushi. You can also sample it, so please enjoy it with hoto. * There are many people who are addicted to the spiciness and umami.
