This tour is an adventure tour that combines the mysterious world of Shugendo with the thrill of cave exploration. There are many caves and waterfalls in the Yoshino region of Nara Prefecture, and it has long been considered a sacred place for people who practice asceticism in the mountains. You can experience the beauty of nature and the depth of history by visiting the waterfalls and caves where ancient ascetics practiced. In particular, by exploring inside a cave, you can experience the sensation of entering the womb of the earth with all five senses, touch the mysteries of nature, and refresh your mind and body while being surrounded by a ``silent and mysterious'' atmosphere. **What is Shugendo? **Shugendo is a unique religious culture that incorporates elements of Buddhism and Shintoism into traditional Japanese ascetic practices, and values a sense of unity with nature. Mountains are considered sacred places, and asceticism is carried out in nature. Ascetics are called ``Yamabushi'' and aim for spiritual growth through meditation, waterfall training (asceticism where you are hit by a waterfall), asceticism in caves, etc. Shugendo, born from gratitude for being alive amidst the blessings of nature, is based on the idea that one can be reborn once again through rigorous training in nature. Caves have also been used as training sites. 1. **Arrival at Yoiyoi Nishikawa Base and Briefing**: - After arriving at Yoiyoi Nishikawa Base, you will receive a briefing on the tour overview, safety, and the cultural significance of the places you will visit. 2. **Introduction to Dragonfly Falls Hike**: - Visit Dragonfly Falls, which was also a training site for Shugendo, located a one-minute drive from Yoiyoi Nishikawa Base. Here, you will experience the training of Shugendo and how to face nature, including waterfalls. 3. **Lunch Break**: Have lunch at the park below Dragonfly Falls 4. **Preparing for Expedition**: - Return to Yoiyoi Nishikawa Base and prepare your exploration gear. Once you are ready, you will drive in your guide's car for about 15 minutes to the parking lot near the cave. 5. **Start of cave exploration**: - After arriving at the parking lot, the cave exploration will begin. The exploration begins by searching for the entrance of the cave. Please discover the cave with your own hands. In order to enjoy the cave exploration empty-handed, your luggage will be left in the car and your guide will take care of your valuables other than your smartphone. 6. **Cave exploration**:7. **Response after cave exploration**: - Return to the same parking lot and change from your dirty equipment. 8. **Hot spring bath**: - After the cave exploration, you can enjoy a hot spring bath. We will provide face towels. Please spend some time relaxing and soothing your tired body in the hot spring. 9. **Pick-up and disbandment**:

Daisuke Michigami, a roofer who has inherited the family business (president of Daiei Ceramics), continues to take on the "indefatigable challenge" of unraveling the "wisdom," "skills," and "teachings" of his predecessors that are embedded in each and every "Awaji tile," a traditional industry that has a history of 400 years, and passing them on to the future. What is the reason for continuing to take on new challenges? We will get to the bottom of the secret. Daisuke Michigami, a roofer, will talk about the charm of "tiles" created by the soil of Awaji over time, the thoughts he puts into making each and every tile, the scenery created by the layers of "tiles," and his commitment to the "beauty" of Japanese architecture, all at "Gallery Doza," a space completely wrapped in soil and tiles. Awaji tiles were hit hard by the unfounded rumor that "the damage caused by the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake was so great because the roofs were tiled." Even in an environment where the survival of Awaji tiles is still in doubt, Michigami has found great potential in "Ginfurubi" (tiles that are new yet somehow nostalgic, baked to a vintage, antique texture), and has been bringing out new charms of Awaji tiles that are different from anything that has come before. Now that his thoughts have taken shape, tiles are connecting people with each other, and Japan's good old traditional beauty is being reevaluated. Tile maker Michigami Daisuke's "insatiable challenge" will continue. After listening to his story, you can enjoy a space surrounded by earth and tiles that you would never believe is inside a tile factory, a view of the townscape that has flourished due to tile production since the Edo period, and Michigami's passion for "beauty" at "Gallery Doza," where you can feel Michigami's passion for "beauty." You can pretend to be a tile craftsman and try making your own "one-of-a-kind tile coaster," one of the new possibilities of tiles. You can choose from a variety of Japanese pattern designs that are prepared in advance, as well as original designs. Try making a rich work full of your sensibility. "Ko-Iga" is the highest peak of pottery in history, known as "exceptional beauty" in the world of tea ceremony, mainly during the Sengoku period, when Sen no Rikyu, Oda Nobunaga, and Toyotomi Hideyoshi were active, and the Azuchi-Momoyama period. Experience Awaji Iga making, a reproduction of the Ko-Iga making used in tea ceremony at that time, with one-on-one guidance from a craftsman who hand-made the largest six-tiered climbing kiln in Japan. Ko-Iga is fired at the world's highest firing temperature of 1400℃ for several days, which is unparalleled in the world, so the shape is distorted and sometimes it breaks when firewood is repeatedly hit against it, but the absolute presence and scenery that surpasses this are known as exceptional beauty. (*250℃-450℃ in a bonfire, 1500℃ in a blast furnace) Awaji Iga aims to revive Ko-Iga and values the invisible process and value, so it does not use modern tools such as burners and thermometers, or glazes that glassify the surface. During the Sengoku period, wars were taking place all over Japan, but no one really wanted war, and tea ceremonies served as a place for secret talks to avoid war. It is said that Ko-Iga was used as a special tool to hold a special tea ceremony, which could avoid war if successful, or lead to war if unsuccessful. At Tsurugi Kiln, you can experience the revival of Ko-Iga, which was used in tea ceremonies that determined history and people's lives and deaths, and the making of Awaji Iga pottery. *The actual experience is limited to the forming process. If you are with friends or family, it will be double the fun if you eat together. In our classroom, you can take a seat and draw hot water from the kettle to make the rice. It's not just an experience where everyone sits in the audience and stirs together with a bamboo whisk. I would like you to feel the real texture and weight of each small tool. I was born in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, and I am a qualified teacher of the Omotesenke school who still lives in Nakagyo Ward. Her husband is a descendant of Ihei Ito, who developed somei-yoshino, a cherry blossom variety that is world-famous as the national flower of Japan, at the request of Yoshimune, the eighth shogun of the Tokugawa family. In our classroom, in addition to the antiques given to us by various people and the tea bowls we collected ourselves, we also use old ones given to us by family members. Since sitting in the seiza style puts a lot of strain on the legs, we also offer an experience using a table and chairs called the ryurei style. If you tell us when you make a reservation, even children, the elderly, and people with concerns about their feet and knees can participate with peace of mind. I think there may be cases such as "I learned it a long time ago, but I somehow forgot it", "I don't understand it even if I read a book", "I don't have time to continue learning". Would you like to experience it when it's like that? After the experience, be sure to stop by the Tsukigama and numerous tea ceremonies that can be found throughout Kyoto. I'm sure there will be new discoveries and fun. We can accommodate a large number of people on school trips, family trips, training trips, etc. Our classroom is a member of the Kyoto City Tourism Association. If you have any questions about the detailed etiquette of the tea ceremony or have any questions, please feel free to ask.
