This is an experience of making traditional Japanese cuisine that has a long history. Oshino Hakkai is a tourist destination with eight ponds fed by Mt. Fuji's spring water. The pond formed by spring water is highly transparent and has been selected as one of the top 100 famous waters, making Oshino Hakkai a very popular spot for delicious seafood. There are many soba making experiences all over Japan, but this is the only place where you can eat soba made with Mt. Fuji spring water. Anyone can easily make Oshino Hakkai soba. In this experience, even those who are new to cooking, such as those who are not familiar with cooking, small children, and those who have never made soba, can participate with confidence. There are few local foods that are as popular as this one, and for a long time, "oneri for breakfast, barley rice for lunch, and pumpkin hoto for dinner" seemed to have been the standard for daily life in the rural areas of Koshu. In 2007, it was selected as one of the "100 Best Local Dishes of Rural Areas" organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, which are known in farming, mountain and fishing villages all over Japan and are widely supported by the people.

The pottery experience was super fun and a welcomed change from Japan’s beautiful castles, temples and shrines. The instructors were very patient and generous with assistance during the entire class. The language barrier was no problem as they were still able to communicate key instructions and there was some written instructions too. It is also called "Kinkaku-ji Temple" because the exterior walls of the Shariden Hall, the central building of the temple, are all decorated with gold leaf. The temple was built in 1397. Originally a villa for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu (the prototype of Shogun Yoshimitsu in the anime "Kei Ikkyu-san"), it was later converted into the Zen temple "Bosatsurei".
