In order to meet the diverse needs of travelers, the Bizenkai focuses on samurai and offers a trial slashing of Iai and a dressing experience of armor helmets. We hope that you will have a memorable experience by actually trying out how heavy the Japanese swords and armor helmets you see on TV and movies are and what their sharpness is. Chairman Sumita is an archer of Yabusame as well as Iai, and is working to pass on Japanese culture to the next generation.
This was a very interesting and informative experience. It was an actual lesson in several forms of swordsmanship. The chance to learn some basics, get some feedback, and finally to cut something with a real katana was unforgettable. Very charismatic instructor with good English skills. Definitely worth trying.

The name is honest. It’s not a tourist trap. This was a great way to experience the art of form, sparring, and cutting with katana. I couldn’t have asked for a more fun time. Sumida is energetic, clear, patient, and motivated to give you an excellent experience. When you arrive you’ll change into a kimono then receive a class on the history and design of katanas. You’ll then practice forms, spar with Sumida and the students, and end by cutting two types of tatami mats. Purchase the experience you won’t regret it.

撃剣は初めてされたとは思えない程、うまく攻撃・防御をされていました。

また試し斬りでは、実際に斬らないと絶対にわからない刃筋をご理解頂けたかと思います。
刃筋が合っていた時の斬りと合っていない時の斬りは全然違ったと思います。
大変上手く斬っていらっしゃいました。

外国人が一緒で、少々心配だったのですが、先生の英語力とご指導で、かえって刺激になり、良い体験ができました。畳表が斬れたときは嬉しかったです。先生も気さくな方なので、安心して受講ができます。
最後に「允可状」をいただけます。これを友達に見せるとビックリされます。いい記念になりました。
I am a professor of Toyama-ryu Iaido, which originated from the military sword operation of the former Japanese Army. At this association, you can experience the shooting sword (kendo), Iai, and sword pulling comprehensively.
