Once your reservation is confirmed, we will send you an email, so please make sure to check it. If you would like to participate with more than 6 people, please let us know. We can accommodate up to 10 people. In this class, you can experience swordsmanship and archery. In iaido, you learn how to handle the sword, in gekken, you learn the distance between you and your opponent and how to attack and defend, and in unsheathing, you learn the blade line (how to hold the blade). - Schedule: Time varies depending on the number of people - 1. Demonstration (3 minutes) 2. Lecture on swords (20 minutes) 3. Change into practice clothes (10 minutes) 4. Iai lesson (20 minutes) 5. Gekken lesson (20 minutes) 6. Archery lesson (20 minutes) 7. Check the blade line (20 minutes) 8. Certificate of inka (5 minutes) 9. Change into casual clothes (10 minutes)
I am a teacher at the headquarters dojo of the All Japan Toyama-ryu Iaido Federation, and also a teacher of Yabusame, and I also wear Yabusame in armor. For the past 20 years, I have been teaching to overseas branches in the United States, Europe, and Asia several times a year. I have also been in charge of trial slashing experiences for more than 1000 people and foreign VIP experiences via the embassy. This experience teaches real swordsmanship and spirit, not entertainment or street performance. If you want to experience it in the right way or study the real thing, please join us.
You can experience beginner's classes in three areas: Iai, Gekken, and Ha-suji. Before the experience, a lecture will be given to deepen your understanding of swords. In Iai, you will use a mock sword to learn how to draw and sheathe the sword, and in Gekken, you will practice sparring using a special bamboo sword. In the Kyūjutsu lesson, you will shoot at the target with a bow and arrow that is actually used in Yabusame. In the Ha-suji lesson, you will check the Ha-suji of the blade.
Those who complete this experience will be issued a certificate of certification from the Toyama-ryu Bizen-kai.
