How about trying on a kimono at Machiya Juku, a Japanese space and time near Higashi Chaya District, and enjoying the world that spreads out from a cup of tea? Escape from everyday life and step into a quiet tea room to discover a new side of yourself. It seems that there are not many houses with tatami mats these days, and the Japanese-style space of a machiya is nostalgic like grandma's house, and it will be fresh for young people. You can learn various Japanese gestures that are useful to remember, such as how to say hello, open and close the fusuma, how to walk and sit on the tatami. This is a Japanese lesson that will definitely come in handy when you are invited, in a slightly formal seat, or in a business setting. Why don't you experience it as a memory of your trip? Not only women but also men are welcome. *All my classes will be private until the corona converges. (We will change the number of participants after booking.) In this class, you can experience the basics of the tea ceremony and how to make matcha. Before guiding your friends from overseas, how about learning a little Japanese cultural keywords? It is sure to be a fun opportunity for people who want to test their English conversation skills and participate with people from overseas. (Please inquire in advance if there are any reservations from overseas customers for your desired schedule) Me (Omotesenke school professor) or my husband (both Omotesenke school and Urasenke school certificates) After enjoying the tea prepared by the chef, you can make your own tea and enjoy it. If you are with friends or family, it will be double the fun if you eat together. In our classroom, you can take a seat and draw hot water from the kettle to make the rice. It's not just an experience where everyone sits in the audience and stirs together with a bamboo whisk. I would like you to feel the real texture and weight of each small tool. I was born in Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, and I am a qualified teacher of the Omotesenke school who still lives in Nakagyo Ward. Her husband is a descendant of Ihei Ito, who developed somei-yoshino, a cherry blossom variety that is world-famous as the national flower of Japan, at the request of Yoshimune, the eighth shogun of the Tokugawa family. In our classroom, in addition to the antiques given to us by various people and the tea bowls we collected ourselves, we also use old ones given to us by family members. Since sitting in the seiza style puts a lot of strain on the legs, we also offer an experience using a table and chairs called the ryurei style. If you tell us when you make a reservation, even children, the elderly, and people with concerns about their feet and knees can participate with peace of mind. I think there may be cases such as "I learned it a long time ago, but I somehow forgot it", "I don't understand it even if I read a book", "I don't have time to continue learning". Would you like to experience it when it's like that? After the experience, be sure to stop by the Tsukigama and numerous tea ceremonies that can be found throughout Kyoto. I'm sure there will be new discoveries and fun. We can accommodate a large number of people on school trips, family trips, training trips, etc. Our classroom is a member of the Kyoto City Tourism Association. If you have any questions about the detailed etiquette of the tea ceremony or have any questions, please feel free to ask. (Note) *You are free to take pictures before and after the class. *Please refrain from taking photos and videos during the instructor's demonstration.

The Daigokuden has been restored to its large appearance in the capital of Nara Year and the ruins of the central palace [Heijo Palace]. If you go northwest from the Taikyokuden, you will find "Cafe Kyoan". Experience the tea ceremony here and explore the various tea rooms. First of all, decide the seating order of the customer. If there are four people, it will be a regular customer, a second customer, a third customer, and a last customer. When you enter the tea room, you will be given a signal by a gong. After that, you will enter the room after cleaning your hands and mouth with the Tsukubai in front of the tea room. The entrance of the tea room is less than 1m square! Enter one by one from the regular customer to the last customer through the entrance (small rectangular entrance). The tea room is a different space. First, you will see (appreciate) tea utensils (everything has a name and meaning) such as hanging scrolls, and then sit down at your own seat. The owner (the person who makes tea according to the fixed method <pointing>) comes into the tea room with tools. The tea party is about to begin! During the tea ceremony, the instructor will teach you how to do it in the tea room. At the end of the ceremony, there is a <seeing> of the light tea bowl (Natsume) and chashaku (Chashaku) used by the host. You will be asked to place the tools in front of you in order from the regular customers. The way of <seeing> is surprisingly careful to handle the tools! This may also be my first experience. Let's listen to the "sound" in the tea room! The sound of boiling water, the sound of pouring and rinsing the cassotte and chasen water, and the indescribable impression! At the end of the tea ceremony, as well as when entering the room, after seeing the tools in the tea room, we will leave from the regular customers through the entrance. I'm used to returning home, so it may be easier to get out! Thank you for your hard work! Originally, it is not possible to take pictures in the tea room, but there is a shooting time after the end.
