Ryusenji Temple is a mysterious ancient temple that can only be found here. The temple enshrines the unique Osawabutsu Buddha, which is one of only four in the entire country, as well as the dignified Yakushi Nyorai by Kisaku Kamakura and the Eleven-Headed Kannon by Enku. At this temple, you can experience a variety of Buddhist themes such as copying sutras, copying Buddha images, and meditation, and refine your mind and body while immersing yourself in history and mystery. Through your training, you will have a deep sense of rebirth.
I am Shosen, the chief priest of Ryusenji Temple. We face the challenges of modern society through Buddhism and disseminate information about temples. Based on the philosophy of "making a temple that people can place their hearts in," we are working to revive temples that are on the verge of being abandoned. We hope to face modern challenges through Buddhist teachings, pass on history and culture to the next generation, and even convey the significance of our existence as a place of learning. I used to work for T Company in Sendai, but returned to the temple to support the temple without a chief priest and my sick family. I trained at the Kyoto sect's head temple Chishaku-in and Oga City's Koufuku-san Kissho-in, and have been the chief priest of Yudono-san Ryusenji since 2013. The cleaning and repair of the grounds of Yudono-san Ryusenji Temple, which lasted 17 years, was successfully completed in May 2023. In addition, I studied Japanese painting at Kyoto University of the Arts and obtained a national qualification as a career consultant. I value interaction so that I can listen to the concerns of visitors and contribute to the revitalization of the region. I also respond to requests for employee training.
