Explore Lake Two and Lake One of the Shiretoko Five Lakes on a ground walkway, then return via an elevated boardwalk. As you walk along the walkway, you can observe the nature that changes with the seasons. You can mainly observe Ezo deer and wild birds. Roads and walkways may be closed due to brown bear sightings, snowfall, storms, etc. If we know of a closure in advance, we will contact you by mobile phone and offer you the option to cancel (free of charge) or an alternative course (same price), or a different date and time, if you wish. If the course is closed after you meet at the site, we will offer you an alternative course (same price) that is available for the remaining time.

The Shiretoko Five Lakes are a representative tourist spot in Shiretoko and are a must-see. A certified guide will slowly guide you along a course of about 3 km with little elevation change. You can see the traces of animals and enjoy the rich nature of Shiretoko while walking. This is a 2km walk to see the unusual "Furepe Falls", a waterfall that falls directly into the sea from a cliff gap. On clear days, the Shiretoko mountain range is beautiful here. This is a special program offered twice a month by Japanese restaurant Yuzuri, a popular restaurant in Abashiri. You will watch as the owner, Saito, who was the head chef at a hotel in Abashiri city, the city of food, prepares dishes using seafood from Abashiri, and receive instruction in the art of Japanese cuisine. Enjoy his superb knife skills and exquisite cooking. After learning about the differences and tips for preparing seasonal fish, as well as how to use professional seasonings, you will experience making salmon roe pickled in soy sauce (or oysters pickled in oil depending on the season). I will explore a 1 km one-way walk from Shiretoko Nature Center to the coastline. Walking through the secondary forest affected by the exploitation, you can see the majestic Shiretoko mountain from the natural grasslands, and from the observation deck you can see the Flepe waterfall flowing down from the cliff. Wild birds that can be observed for each environment, such as forested wild birds such as yellowfish, grassland birds such as white-faced red wild birds, sea birds such as sea bass, are different during walks. It is a short boardwalk, but the characteristic of Shiretoko is a promising walkway.

Drift ice is essential for the creatures living in Shiretoko. One step on the ice and you are in the world of wild animals. By putting on a special suit, you can step into the world of creatures that live with the ice. Drift ice walk is an activity that can only be experienced in the Utoro area of the Shiretoko Peninsula for only one and a half months.
