Since the Warring States period, people have been using nature sustainably as a breeding ground for cattle and horses in the “Millennium Grassland” that spreads out on the north outer rim of the Aso Caldera. After the horseback riding, we will have a lunch picnic in the middle of the grassland with the local farmers who are our “guardians.” After lunch, under the guidance of a guardian, you can enjoy the "Guardian of the Grassland" experience, such as cutting thatch using a traditional sickle and making a rope using pampas grass and thatch from the grassland. 〜Experience schedule〜 10:00 Orientation After meeting at the Aso Grassland Conservation Activity Center, we moved to the northern somma crater experience area by private car. 10:30 Thousand Year Grassland Horse Riding (30 minutes of lecture/training, 60 minutes of horseback riding) Participants will ride their own horses, rather than pulling horses, through the grasslands. 12:00 Thousand Year Grassland Picnic Lunch Example of menu (Please select one from the following when applying.) The park also has a hot spring and a restaurant. Kamishikimi Kumanoza ShrineThis shrine attracted attention as it was the setting for the anime movie "Hotarubi no Mori e" by Kumamoto-born manga artist Yuki Midorikawa. Amanoiwato ShrineAmanoiwato Shrine is located in Takachiho Town, Miyazaki Prefecture, and enshrines the cave called Amanoiwato, where Amaterasu Omikami hid herself, as written in Japanese mythology (Kojiki and Nihon Shoki), as its sacred object, and is the setting for the Amanoiwato myth. Takachiho Gorge Takachiho Gorge is a gorge where pyroclastic flows from the Aso volcanic activity flowed in a ribbon along the Gokase River and cooled rapidly, creating beautiful cliffs with columnar joints.

A trip around the mystical Kumamoto and TakachihoDeepen the charm of Kumamoto and Takachiho and start a journey full of mysticism and natural wonders. First, head to Kamishi-Kimi Kumano-za, famous for its pilgrimage route decorated with nearly 100 lanterns, as if you were lost in a dream world. Along the way, you will find Kuroto-iwa, a giant wind tunnel protruding from Onihachi, a symbol of faith that overcomes difficulties. The shrine's sacred tree, Nagi, is also an ideal place to make a wish, as it symbolizes matchmaking and business prosperity. Next, head to Amanoiwato Shrine and experience the mystical charm of Japanese mythology. Amanoiwato Shrine is an ancient sacred place that enshrines Amaterasu Omikami. The Tenyasu River within the shrine grounds was originally a popular place to make wishes by stacking stones, signifying that wishes would be fulfilled and good fortune would come. In addition to the sacred pilgrimage of worshippers, you can also experience a traditional blessing ceremony. Afterwards, explore Takachiho Gorge, a beautiful valley formed by an ancient volcanic eruption. The cliffs towering on both sides of the valley and the Manai Falls give a sense of the majestic nature. On the approximately 1 km promenade, you can leisurely stroll through unique scenery such as the "Kihachi Power Stone" and three arch bridges from different eras (Shinbashi Bridge, Showa Bridge, and Shinto Takachiho Bridge). In particular, the 70 m high Sennin no Byobu Rock has a beauty like a natural folding screen. Each attraction has its own history and natural scenery, allowing you to feel the depth of Japanese culture and the splendor of natural scenery. Whether it is a mysterious legend or the fascinating beauty of nature, this itinerary will bring you an unparalleled travel experience. The schedule is not available in Japanese.
