Plan description

Take the Yamabiko Express bus directly from central Kumamoto to Aso! This plan includes visits to Kusasenri, a must-see scenic spot for any visitor to Aso, and the world's largest caldera, the Aso Nakadake Crater. Kusasenri offers a stunning view of the volcanic ash rising from the volcano. Enjoy a "Red Beef Hamburger" at restaurant Douce Nucca, offering a spectacular view of Kusasenri. *The fare for the Aso Crater Tour Shuttle is not included. Payment is required on-site. For fares and operating times, please visit the Aso Crater Shuttle website. ◆On Tuesday, January 20, 2026, a helicopter flying near the crater of Mount Aso went missing. As a result, a search is currently underway. The crater road leading to the crater is currently closed, making crater tours unavailable. The reopening date for the shuttle service has yet to be determined. (Tourism in Kusasenri is possible.) For the latest information on the crater, please check the Aso Volcano Crater Restrictions Information (website).

You can choose to depart and return from three locations: Kumamoto Station, Sakuramachi Bus Terminal, and Kumamoto Airport. You can also choose to board at Kumamoto Station in the morning and disembark at Kumamoto Airport on your way back. *Please note that you will not be able to leave your luggage on the bus as you will be transferring between local buses. ★What is a "Local Bus Trip"? It is a great value trip that includes tickets for express buses, local buses, etc., as well as tickets for use of various facilities.
