Tomiya Orimono Co., Ltd. is a Kyoto-based company recognized as a "Kyoto Long-Established Company," a recognition bestowed upon companies with over 100 years of history. To this day, the company has dedicated itself to the creation of Nishijin-ori obi (sashes). At the workshop, you'll learn about the history of Nishijin-ori and the techniques of its artisans while touching the actual weaving tools used. You'll also get a close-up tour of the jacquard loom, where you'll experience the craftsmanship and power of the loom. During the hand weaving experience, you'll weave a table center approximately 20cm x 30cm on a special hand loom. The texture changes depending on the strength of the weave and the tension of the weft thread, creating a fascinating experience that will leave you lost in time. You can take home your table center on the day. In addition to obi and kimonos, you can also see "art weaving," where famous paintings and photographs are woven into fabric. This tour, packed with content, will allow you to deeply understand the appeal of Nishijin-ori while listening to the sounds of the looms in a workshop built in the Taisho era.

A cycling tour in Oku-Nikko, on top of Nikko Irohazaka. We pass through forest roads that are off-limits to general vehicles and head for the beach of Lake Chuzenji, the highest lake in Japan. Experience Sendai like a local in its historic alleys lined with bars and restaurants. ​Sendai is known for its "yokocho" culture, with many hidden alleys near the main shopping streets. From traditional izakayas to modern restaurants, the alleys have it all. Even beginners can experience the "Date Inzai-ryu" archery that has been passed down since the time of Date Masamune! The Date clan, based in Sendai, practiced a traditional archery style called "Hiki-ryu Inzai-ha". This style emphasizes effectiveness on the battlefield over ceremonial beauty. In particular, it employs shooting techniques that utilize mobility, single or group tactics, and powerful shots that can penetrate armor. In this archery experience, you will travel back in time to feudal Japan and train like a Date clan soldier. After hearing about the history and battle tactics of the time, you will be taught how to safely shoot an arrow in a modern martial arts center. This experience will be led by Ken Kurosu, representative of the "Date Inzai Archery Research Association," which also performs at the Sendai Aoba Festival.
