Plan attractions
Mt. Daikanbo This peak is one of the northern outer craters of the volcano, located northeast of Uchinomaki Onsen. At an elevation of approximately 935 meters, it is about 400 meters higher than the Aso Valley (Aso city area) directly below, making it one of Aso's most spectacular scenic spots. From here, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view, including the Aso townscape, the Five Peaks of Aso, and even the Kuju mountain range.
Aso Shrine temple town The approach to the shrine is rare nationwide, and the tower gate of Aso Shrine stands facing this approach. Along the approach is the "Monzenmachi Shopping Street," lined with gourmet restaurants, liquor stores, souvenir shops, and more, and is bustling with tourists. There are also many springs (drinking fountains) called "Suiki," and "Suiki Tours," where people stroll around looking for these, are also popular.
Visit to the crater of Mount Aso Of the five Aso mountains (Mt. Neko, Mt. Taka, Mt. Naka, Mt. Eboshi, and Mt. Kishima) that tower in the center of the Aso Caldera, one of the largest in the world, measuring 18km east to west and 25km north to south, Mt. Naka is the one that continues to be highly active today. From the crater, you can see the intense white smoke rising and the dynamic scenery up close.
Kusasenrigahama One of the most popular tourist destinations in all of Aso. Located at an altitude of approximately 1,100m, it is a great location from which to view the leisurely roaming of grazing horses and the dynamic, volcanic peak of Mount Aso Nakadake. In the summer, the area shines with vibrant greenery, and in the dead of winter, it is enveloped in a magical world of silvery white! You can enjoy different views with each season.
