Children from the third grade of elementary school can experience this! (For elementary school students, cypress wood is recommended, but Yamazakura wood is hard, so in most cases it cannot be shaved at all. Children younger than that should be watched by a parent or guardian.) Planing from a square piece of wood!? It may seem difficult, but our craftsmen will carefully teach you how to use the plane. Experience woodworking using fruit trees in Yamanashi! You can make chopsticks, spoons, and plates using wood that is unique to the city of peaches and grapes, and take them home as souvenirs. Why not try making "Kumiko" in Noshiro, the city of wood? Noshiro City, Akita Prefecture, is a town at the mouth of the Yoneshiro River, and has a convenient port for transporting felled Akita cedar. Lumber is exported domestically and overseas, and it was called "the No. 1 city of wood in the Orient". Even now, there are many wood-related companies in the city. We will assemble wooden "Kumiko parts" from scratch. There is some fine work, but the work of assembling them together is addictive! The finishing work using a file allows you to feel the pleasant scent of wood. *Wood material: Hiba You can choose from two types of "strap" with a diameter of about 5.6 cm and "coaster" with a diameter of about 10 cm (additional 500 yen). Try your hand at making an authentic parquet keychain by cutting and gluing parquet blocks that make use of the natural wood color! Wood comes in a variety of colors, from brown, red, yellow, and even purple. The parquet block bars that form the basis of parquet work are made in advance by instructor Matsuura. You cut them with a craftsman's saw and combine them to make hearts, leaves, and any other shape you like. Once firmly glued together, polish them with sandpaper and finish with oil to complete the piece. Instructor Matsuura of Studio Kaede is a talented artist who won the top prize at the Dobi Exhibition in 2019. He will kindly teach even beginners the authentic craftsmanship!

You can take it home. We will accept applications from just one person! We will do our best to make sure you have a fun and injury-free time! ~Procedure of the experience~ 1. Draw a side view of a butter knife with a pencil. 2. Cut outside the line you drew with a scroll saw. 3.Use a machine called a belt sander to sand down to the lines on the side view. 4. Cut the unnecessary parts using a saw. 5. Draw a top view of the butter knife with a pencil. 6. Use a belt sander to sand down to the lines shown on the top view. 7. Polish with sponge sander and sandpaper by hand. 8. Wear gloves and apply oil with a rag to complete. Customers who participate in this plan will receive a cup of home-roasted coffee. The workshop is in a great location, surrounded by nature and close to the sea. If the weather is nice, you might even be able to enjoy a spectacular sunset with a cup of coffee in hand! ?
