Rakugo is a traditional Japanese comedy art form unparalleled anywhere in the world, where the performer plays multiple roles while seated, without the use of any stage equipment, and with only small props such as hand towels and folding fans. In addition to rakugo, there will also be performances of Japanese magic tricks and daikagura (Japanese juggling), accompanied by live music with traditional Japanese instruments such as the shamisen, drums, and flutes. At the workshop, you'll learn about the history of Nishijin-ori and the techniques of its artisans while touching the actual weaving tools used. Kintsugi is a repair technique in which cracks, chips, and other damaged parts of ceramics are glued together with lacquer and decorated with gold and other metal powder. It is also called Kintsukuroi. At our salon, we use simple lacquer instead of real lacquer, and we finish at a reasonable price. Tableware that holds a special meaning can be revived by Kintsugi, and upgraded by applying gold. We accept lessons and orders.
