Spend a full day creating a kozuka — a small decorative utility blade that was once concealed in the scabbard of a Japanese sword. The material used is the same as that used in real Japanese swords & tamahagane, the highest-grade steel in the world. During the experience, you will make a clay base (tsuchi-dai), inscribe a blade crest (yasurime), attach the blade, carve your name onto it, craft a kozuka case, and sharpen the blade to complete the piece. Our studio is the only place where you can experience both making a kozuka and sharpening it yourself. You will learn the Japanese sword-making process through hands-on work. Striking and shaping iron, and seeing the wave-like patterns emerge, is something you cannot fully understand until you try it yourself — making this a truly valuable learning experience. The experience is tailored to each participant’s ability, so minors and women are also welcome — there’s no need to worry. You are welcome to take photos and videos during the process! The fee covers the experience for one kozuka. Two or more people can work together to make one, but please let us know in advance when booking. If you wish to make more than one, please note that it will take approximately one extra hour per additional piece. Please allow plenty of time before the expected end time. It is also possible to start earlier upon request & feel free to contact us.

Come to Kanazawa! Have fun on sunny days and rainy days! Even though Kanazawa is a city that looks good in kimonos, it would be a waste to just wear a kimono and go sightseeing! Since it's a rare opportunity, why not try to experience a little bit of Kanazawa's traditional culture and have an experience that can only be had at that time. Kanazawa rains a lot, so you may be worried about whether you can take a leisurely stroll in a kimono... If you experience making kimono scrap art, you don't have to worry about that at all! ! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------<What is making kimono scrap art?>This is an experience where you carefully unravel each piece of kimono that you can no longer wear due to holes caused by burning or stains that won't come off, and use small pieces of kimono scraps to paste them onto stencils to create a one-of-a-kind art piece. We have a variety of stencils, such as the Tsuzumimon Gate at Kanazawa Station, the Kotoji lantern at Kenrokuen, and Kanazawa Castle, so please choose the one you like! Don't worry, there are also simple designs such as dinosaurs and flowers for children. No special skills are required, so anyone can easily get started. It's interesting that even if you use the same stencil, you can create a different work depending on the kimono scraps you use! You can take the finished work home in a frame on the spot. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------<Plan Contents> ① Reception Our store has a very homely atmosphere and our friendly staff (we're so friendly that we always get along with our customers...lol) will guide you. ② Create a one-of-a-kind kimono scrap art Make your own special work!
