"Studio Seikan" is a facility with a workshop, shop and cafe, where you can visit the manufacturing site of Yamanaka lacquerware, experience woodturning, shop, and enjoy cafe and sweets with lacquerware. This course includes a workshop tour (with explanation) - making a vase - lacquerware experience at the cafe (one drink included). Lacquerware craftsmen work here every day. In this experience, you can observe them up close and learn about lacquerware production. The staff will explain it in an easy-to-understand way. Next, you will make your own original lacquered chopsticks at the place where the craftsmen actually work. Think about the design of the chopsticks and paint them with real lacquer. You can experience authentic lacquer painting. The lacquer craftsmen will teach you carefully, so you can make them yourself until they are completed. You will surely be satisfied. It's fun. Even beginners can enjoy hata weaving. You start by choosing a thread. It can be difficult until you get used to it, but once you do, you'll be able to weave rhythmically. You can weave within about 10cm using your favorite thread and take home what you have woven. You can display it as is or use it as a vase mat.

It is a plan that you can take pictures as much as you want in the facility by wearing the authentic Amami Oshima Tsumugi from the top of your clothes. We rent tripods and selfie sticks, so we can accommodate from one person to a group. We have a wide range of products for men, kids and babies, so please take a commemorative photo.
