<Tea Picking, Traditional Cooking Class, Matcha Experience Tour> In the rolling tea fields of Wazuka in southern Kyoto, you can pick tea leaves in a dedicated tea farm and learn about tea culture from locals. In a traditional old house, you will make traditional local gourmet dishes with a local instructor. You will enjoy a tea-centered meal such as tea soba noodles and tea leaf tempura that you make yourself. You will receive an additive-free Wazuka original spice mix with sencha as a gift! Optionally, you can grind matcha leaves in a stone mill and experience matcha with traditional Japanese sweets. ~ Schedule ~ - Pick-up service: Pick up from your hotel in Kyoto in a private chartered vehicle to the farm. - Tea Picking: Stroll through a private tea farm with beautiful views and enjoy a lecture on tea, photography, and a tea picking experience. - Scenic Tea Farm Tour: Visit a scenic tea farm overlooking Ishidera Tea Garden, a certified Japanese cultural heritage site. - Cooking class (optional): Under the guidance of a knowledgeable local instructor, you will make a special tea soba noodles made by mixing buckwheat flour and tea leaves in a traditional old house. - Tea tasting and lunch: Enjoy freshly fried tea leaf tempura, pre-prepared tea soba noodles, and three types of Japanese tea. - Matcha experience (optional): Grind matcha leaves in a traditional stone mill and brew matcha tea. Enjoy with two tea-flavored dango skewers (traditional sweets). - Souvenir: Receive a free Wazuka original spice mix with no preservatives, including sencha tea, sea salt, dried lemon, fried onion, garlic, and black pepper, for use in a variety of dishes. Immerse yourself in the soothing scenery and learn all about the production of local, high-quality Uji tea during this intimate exploration of the tea culture and traditions of Wazuka, Kyoto.

Kyoto tea culture experience

When you think of Kyoto, traditional temples, shrines, cobblestone streets, and kimono-clad geishas spring to mind. But once you leave the city, Japan's ancient capital transforms into a landscape of lush terraced tea fields. This special tea experience takes place in the tea fields of Wazuka, in southern Kyoto, where some of the finest tea in the country is grown and harvested. This up-close experience of Kyoto's tea culture will allow you to interact with local farmers, taste fresh local tea, and try your hand at creating gourmet dishes using locally sourced ingredients.
