The five-story pagoda is commonly known as "Yasaka Pagoda" and is a symbol of Higashiyama. ▼ Fushimi Inari Taisha is famous for its thousand torii gates, and many tourists from Japan and abroad visit it every year. Kongoji Temple Yasaka Koshindo - The colorful jade monkeys are a great Instagram spot

If you come to Kyoto, a city full of old-fashioned charm, you should definitely visit the popular check-in spot "Yasaka Koshin-do". The brightly colored balls here make your photos look unique, and many people take photos wearing kimonos. Although it is a small temple, its official name is Daikokusan Kongo-ji Yasaka Koshin-do, as it enshrines Shomen Kongo, one of the three Koshins in Japan. Next to the Shomen Kongo, there are three monkeys, messengers of the gods, representing "don't see, don't hear, don't speak" and "don't see, don't hear, don't speak anything indecent". Therefore, this place is also called Monkey Shrine.

Byodoin

It is a representative example of a stroll-style pond garden from the Heian period, and was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Its most famous feature is the Phoenix Hall. The building stretches out in two directions, giving the appearance of a phoenix spreading its wings and taking off. The temple grounds house the Seated Amitabha Buddha, a designated national treasure and also depicted on the 10 yen coin.
