Plan description

The Otsu Festival is held every autumn in Otsu Hyakumachi, the 53rd post town on the Tokaido road. Gorgeously decorated floats parade through the town, performing karakuri tricks derived from historical events to the accompaniment of traditional music. This special tour allows you to enjoy the float parade, and includes special viewing seats and lunch at Lake Biwa Hotel! ~Experience procession~ Biwako Hamaotsu Station ⇒ Lake Biwa Hotel (lunch) ⇒ Float display area ⇒ Viewing of the portable shrine procession, float parade and karakuri tricks from the paid viewing seats ⇒ Tenson Shrine ⇒ JR Otsu Station

Watch the float parade and Karakuri demonstration from the paid viewing area

You can see the floats being assembled before the afternoon parade. You can take a close look at the gorgeously decorated floats and the "karakuri" (mechanical tricks) that originate from historical events, along with the music, with explanations provided!

The viewing area is the NHK Otsu Broadcasting Station parking lot along the old Tokaido road. On the day of the event, the parking lot will be open for a special event.
