Plan description

The Otsu Festival is held every autumn in Otsu Hyakucho, the 53rd post town on the Tokaido. Gorgeously decorated floats parade through the town, performing karakuri tricks derived from historical events to the accompaniment of music. This premium tour combines the highlight of the float parade, the "Somo" (karakuri performance), from a special viewing seat, with a ride on the popular Lake Biwa Canal Boat! Lunch will also be served at a traditional restaurant built in 1918 that is a nationally registered tangible cultural property. An earphone guide is also included, making the festival even more comfortable. Lunch at a restaurant registered as a national tangible cultural property

We had lunch at the restaurant "Goryouri Mameshin." The building was built 120 years ago in 1918 and is registered as a tangible cultural property of Japan.

Watch the float parade and Karakuri demonstration from the paid viewing area

From the viewing stand along the old Tokaido road, you can enjoy a close-up look at the gorgeously decorated floats and the historically-derived Karakuri parades, accompanied by musical accompaniment and explanations!
