A local volunteer guide will provide a detailed tour of the highlights of Ishiyama-dera Temple and the drama museum. You can also enjoy the Seta River and Lake Biwa River Cruise, which gives you a sense of the history of the Ishiyama pilgrimage that Murasaki Shikibu experienced. This cruise departs from in front of the Ishiyama-dera temple gate, and offers a special experience of being able to enjoy the beautiful scenery that Murasaki Shikibu would have seen from the boat. Ishiyama Temple This temple is said to be where Murasaki Shikibu, the protagonist of this year's taiga drama, came up with the idea for "The Tale of Genji." The "Genji Room" remains in the main hall. It is also the 13th temple of the Thirty-Three Kannon Temples of the Western Provinces, and is famous for "Autumn Moon at Ishiyama," one of the Eight Views of Omi. [Visit]
To the Shining You: The Tale of Genji: The Path of Lovers Exhibition at the Lake Biwa Otsu Taiga Drama Museum The exhibition features costumes and props that appear in the historical drama "To You Who Shines", as well as panels that show the behind-the-scenes of filming. In the adjacent "The Tale of Genji: The Sorrow of Those in Love" exhibition, you can see a special exhibition that touches on the waka poems of the Tale of Genji and the culture of the Heian period.
