Plan description

Iriomote Island's coastline is said to be 130 km long, surrounded by coral reefs and shallow waters. At Bajau Trip Iriomote Field Service, our guides will create an optimal course for you, taking into consideration factors such as tides, wind direction, and weather, while also incorporating your feedback. Each day's paddle distance is approximately 10 to 15 km. Instead of paddling continuously throughout the day, we periodically stop off at beaches for a break, beachcombing, swimming, lunch, or tea. This eco-tour allows you to appreciate Iriomote Island's scenic coastline and the color of the ocean, while listening to your guide's stories about the island and learning about its history, culture, and nature. Of course, before departure, your guide will provide thorough training on everything from paddling to field explanations and equipment usage, so even beginners can participate with confidence. *Sea kayaking is a sport deeply influenced by nature. Please note that depending on the wind strength, sea conditions, and weather conditions on the day, we may switch to mangrove kayaking or trekking.

Touring the coal mining islands in the early Showa period

Shirahama Port starts and finishes. Uchibanari Island, which floats off the coast of Shirahama, is an inseparable island in the history of Iriomote Island, with the Japanese Army fortress and coal mine settlements during the war. It is also famous for having "nipa palm," a type of mangrove that can only be seen on this island and Funaura Bay in Japan. On the way, you can snorkel, explore strange rocks, observe mangroves, etc. by going around this island while stopping by the neighboring Sotobanari Island.

Explore the hidden gems of Iriomote Island

From Funaura on Iriomote Island to the hotel in Takana to the east, this coast has roads, but it is a perfect place for sea kayaking, where the coast is untouched. However, it is also a sea area that is greatly affected by the tide because the shallow sea continues. Great snorkeling points with dense branches of coral, sandy beaches with coconut palms, stranded boats that are likely to appear in Ghibli anime, and uninhabited beaches full of caves are enough situations to remind you of the unexplored region of the South Sea.

This is Iriomote, rowing through the magnificent scenery of the South Seas

There are no roads on the coast from Toyohara on Iriomote Island to the west, and steep mountains approach the coast, making it one of the few wilderness areas in Japan. The calm inland sea protected by the reef and the open sea with the swell of the open ocean are truly wild. Large sea turtles berth for spawning, cool themselves with the cold waters that flow out, stroll along the maze-like coast of Fukegara, and look up at the approaching mountains. It is a field for people who are a little used to the outdoors.
