Yutsun Valley is a deep valley running north from Mount Komi, the highest peak on Iriomote Island. Upstream of the Yutsun River that flows through the valley, there is a magnificent waterfall that cascades down a huge, tiered rock face. The main three-tiered part of the valley is known as the "Yutsun Three-Tiered Waterfall." Felt-soled marine shoes for climbing are also available for rental. You can come in sandals instead of hiking boots or trekking shoes, but we recommend wearing socks.
From the entrance of the mountain road, climb the mountain along the Yutun River and aim for the waterfall. It is quite powerful when it rains a lot. You can be hit by a waterfall, or you can go to the top of the waterfall and see the spectacular view. Sliding through the forest and bedrock of Modama is the best trail to enjoy the jungle of Iriomote Island.
