「最後の秘境」とも呼ばれる西表島では、そんなマングローブ群落をカヌー（カヤック）やSUP（スタンドアップパドル）でマングローブをクルージングし、トレッキングで滝を目指すツアーが根強い人気を誇っています。
今回のツアーで目指したのは「幸運の滝」こと「クーラの滝」です。

沖縄県・八重山諸島の離島、西表島。世界自然遺産候補地でもある亜熱帯のこの島では、毎年夏になると「サガリバナ」と呼ばれる花が咲きます。
花言葉は「幸運が訪れる」。
白～薄桃色のサガリバナはふわふわとしていて、バニラのような甘い香りを漂わせる非常に美しい花です。
しかしサガリバナは日中に咲くことはなく、夕方～夜に開花し、翌朝には散ってしまうという儚い運命を背負った花です。その特徴から「一夜花」とも呼ばれています。
PiPiの夏季限定ツアー「サガリバナカヌー」は張り詰めるような早朝の静けさの中、水面に浮かぶサガリバナを眺めながらカヌーでマングローブの林を漕ぎ進みます。
