This is a service that allows foreign tourists to experience the good old days of "Showa schools", one of the hidden charms of Japanese culture, at our abandoned school campground, CAMPiece Kimitsu (Kimitsu City, Chiba). A certain rural town in Japan, the era is Showa... Enroll for one day at a school nestled in a rural landscape surrounded by nature. A “homeroom teacher” will actually teach the class in the classroom. Participants wear school uniforms and sailor uniforms. It starts with the entrance ceremony, morning homeroom, day shift, calligraphy and history classes, school lunch, sports day, and finally the graduation ceremony where the students receive their diplomas. You will experience a simulated "school life" that Japanese students have experienced. *The “homeroom teacher” will basically conduct the class in English 1. Morning homeroom 2. Japanese language “Calligraphy” 3. Lunch 4. Social studies “History” 5. Physical education “Sports day” 6. Cleaning time 7. Graduation Ceremony 8, Festival *Optional options include camping in the schoolyard and staying at a hot spring inn.
My mother (69yo), teenage relatives (13 and 17yo) and I (27yo) did a day trip to Kimino High School in August of 2024 and we all had a blast! If you love anime and/or nostalgia, I would highly recommend this experience if you're visiting Japan. The organizers arrange a free shuttle service that transports you to/from Shinjuku station and the school in Chiba. I highly recommend using it because the school is located far in the countryside.

The festival's highlight is the appearance of six floats, but the "float pulling experience" where you can move the gorgeous floats made in the 1700s together with the local people will be a wonderful memory. In addition, the original hand towels and work gloves handed out when pulling the floats will be given as souvenirs. - Schedule - 1. The Chichibu Night Festival, which has a history of over 300 years, is a designated important folk cultural asset of the country and a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage. The local people have enjoyed and protected this historic Chichibu Night Festival. There are six floats that attract a lot of attention at the festival, so why not join the locals in pulling them? The floats, built in the 1700s, are said to weigh several tons, and everyone joins forces to pull them through the town of Chichibu. The shout is "Wasshoi!" After the float pulling is over, we will show you a deep place that only locals know and is not even a tourist spot! After that, enjoy alcohol and Chichibu gourmet food as a banquet experience with the festival people. It's no problem if you can't drink alcohol. Be sure to ask how the people of Chichibu welcome the festival and what the meaning of the festival is! A special experience that can only be had here in Chichibu!
