It is a canoeing experience on the Arekinai River, a tributary that flows through the Kushiro Marsh. The meeting place is JR Senmo Line, in front of Toro Station. The course starts from a lake called Lake Toro, goes to the Arekinai River, goes to the main stream of the Kushiro River, goes up the Arekinai River by canoe, and returns to Lake Toro. Because it is a calm river, you can go up the river, and even those who are new to canoeing can experience it with peace of mind. The river does not freeze even in winter, so you can experience canoeing throughout the year. The scenery that changes according to the season, and the Yezo deer, white-tailed eagles, and red-crowned cranes that you can meet if your timing and luck are good are also highlights. Of course, the guide will ride with you, so please leave the operation of the canoe to us. You can also do a half-day course combined with an observation deck tour! 〜Flow of the experience〜 (For the 7:00 course) 7:00 Meet in front of JR Senmo Line Toro Station Please be at Toro Station at the start time of the tour. Mysterious Lake MashuThis is a course where you can see Lake Mashu, Mt. Iou, and Lake Kussharo. Mysterious Lake Mashu is worth a visit. On the way to Lake Mashu, you can also get a feel for the vastness of Hokkaido at Tawadaira, where you can see the horizon in a large panorama. You can eat Genghis Khan at Tawadaira.

We had an amazing experience with our guide Hide-san. He was very accommodating and explained many interesting details to us about what we were walking past in nature. We were fortunate enough to have sunny weather, so we had a clear view all across Lake Mashu from the top of the trail. It was also nice that we saw foxes on the drive there and back.

This course takes you all around the Kushiro Marsh, the 28th national park established and the largest naturally rich low-lying marsh in Japan with the largest horizontal extent. View the Kushiro Marsh from the eastern (western) observation deck, then walk along an unpaved road to the western (eastern) observation deck. If you are confident in your time and stamina, there are also some places you can walk (or climb?) to see, such as the Kottaro Marsh Observation Deck, Sarubo Observation Deck, and Yumegaoka Observation Deck. Along the way, you might encounter red-crowned cranes, Ezo deer, or Ezo red foxes (which appear irregularly).

From Hosooka Observatory (east side), you can see the Kushiro Marsh and the meandering Kushiro River in the Kushiro Marsh, the 28th national park and the largest naturally rich low-lying marsh in Japan with a horizontal spread. The view from Hosooka Observatory, also known as the "Great View," is spectacular, and on a clear day you can see the Akan Mountains. Watching the sunset from Hosooka Observatory has also become popular recently. The untouched Hosooka Observatory is an observation deck that cannot be reached by large tourist buses. There is also a course that combines the Norokko train ride, where you can ride one way through the marsh from Kushiro city to Hosooka Observatory to Kushiro city, and then take a taxi back to see the Kushiro Marsh from a different angle.

Even it is early winter, the scene is still stunning. No worry about not good at canoeing. Teddy San would take care of everything. The only thing you have to do is to enjoy all the scenes in front of you. As to fishing part, that is also good experience you must have in your lifetime. Again, no worry about whether you could catch fish or not, just drive yourself into the wild place and you would love it.
