"Kobo Seikan" has a workshop, shop, and cafe, and you can enjoy a tour of the Yamanaka lacquerware production site, experience turning the wood, and enjoy shopping, lacquerware, and cafes and sweets. In this course, we will visit the studio (I will explain) ~ Making a vase ~ Lacquerware experience at a cafe (with a drink) Here, the lacquerware craftsmen are working every day. In this experience, you can observe it up close and learn about lacquerware production. The staff will give you easy-to-understand instructions. Next, you will make your own original flower vase using the wood turning wheel and plane that the craftsmen actually use. You can experience full-fledged wood sawing through making single flower vase. Most of the shapes are carved by yourself, so it's a little bit difficult, but it's fun! ! ! A friendly wood craftsman will teach you carefully, so you can make it yourself until the final completion. You will be satisfied. It is fun. This course includes a workshop tour (with explanation) - making a vase - lacquerware experience at the cafe (one drink included). Lacquerware craftsmen work here every day. In this experience, you can observe them up close and learn about lacquerware production. The staff will explain it in an easy-to-understand way. Next, you will make your own original lacquered chopsticks at the place where the craftsmen actually work. Think about the design of the chopsticks and paint them with real lacquer. You can experience authentic lacquer painting. The lacquer craftsmen will teach you carefully, so you can make them yourself until they are completed. You will surely be satisfied. It's fun. It has roots that the first generation was a pottery specializing in ceramics, and even now, we are doing everything from creating the ceramics to painting. This program is a studio tour in which Ms. Ikika Asakura, the daughter of Mr. Isokichi Asakura, the fourth generation, explains the studio, gallery, and works. Experience matcha green tea with Kutani ware in a tatami room in a townhouse full of culture. The current owner, Mr. Yukio Uchida, takes over the pottery shop in his parents' house, and he himself creates works by overglaze painting as a Kutani ware artist. In addition to being able to see and purchase Kutani ware at the shop on the 1st floor, the atelier on the 2nd floor of the machiya-style pottery shop is open to the public, allowing visitors to see Mr. Uchida painting. We also serve matcha green tea in Kutani tea bowls made by the artist. Come and experience the world of Kutani ware, which flourished in an elegant culture.

Enjoy Kutani and the stylish tradesman culture in a retro-modern townhouse. Komatsu's old town area was formed around Komatsu Castle, which used to be here. The artist, Yukio Uchida, is the only artist in this area where the stylish tradesman culture, including Kabuki and Hikiyama, still remains, and is the only person involved in the production of Kutani ware. He is also the owner of "Toraya Ceramics Store", which has a store in a renovated building of the traditional architectural style "Komatsu Machiya". In this program, under the guidance of Mr. Uchida, Kutani ware painting of "Kutani style" will be performed in a retro-modern Komatsu Machiya. A painting experience in nature. Mr. Kengo Ukita of Ukita Kiln has a history of attending a design school in Tokyo after training at Tokuda Yasokichi Pottery. The pottery-making environment that he obtained after moving from the Komatsu Airport area is a source of playful inspiration. The natural and tranquil environment around the studio, the view of greenery that jumps out from the window of the work desk, and the occasional music session with friends in the gallery. The pop style of Mr. Ukita's works inspired by them has a familiarity and warmth that is somewhat different from the classic motifs associated with the word "Kutani ware". In the GEMBA program, under the guidance of Mr. Ukita, you can experience overglaze painting from sketching a rough sketch in the backyard.
