Kutani ware kiln that discharges many craftsmen A kiln that performs everything from molding to painting of Kutani ware. In particular, the designs by the first generation who went to Kyoto for training in painting are valuable assets even in the production area. Many of the current Kutani ware artists also studied under the first and second generations of the Tokuda family, and after the third generation, the deep colors expressed by baking at high temperatures are characteristic. The glaze formulation studied by the first generation was inherited by the third generation and established as a technique called "Yosai" that freely manipulates more than 100 colors, and was certified as a Living National Treasure in 1993. The current 4th generation Tokuda Yasokichi also inherited the style of the 3rd generation, and the work with deep gradation all over the vessel is impressive.
