Experience matcha green tea with Kutani ware in a tatami room in a townhouse full of culture. The current owner, Mr. Yukio Uchida, takes over the pottery shop in his parents' house, and he himself creates works by overglaze painting as a Kutani ware artist. In addition to being able to see and purchase Kutani ware at the shop on the 1st floor, the atelier on the 2nd floor of the machiya-style pottery shop is open to the public, allowing visitors to see Mr. Uchida painting. We also serve matcha green tea in Kutani tea bowls made by the artist. Come and experience the world of Kutani ware, which flourished in an elegant culture.

One of the characteristics of Komatsu's tea ceremony culture is that Maeda Toshitsune, who retired to Komatsu Castle, encouraged not only samurai families but also merchants and townspeople to practice tea ceremony. Toraya Tokiten also held a tea ceremony at the Otabi Matsuri, Komatsu City's largest festival, which is held every May for 250 years. In this program, Mr. Yukio himself makes tea at the end of the painting experience. You can enjoy the authentic history and flavor of Komatsu's merchant culture with your five senses in a tea room where time flows slowly.

In the calm atmosphere of traditional architecture such as tatami rooms and tea rooms, you can feel the cultural aspect of Kutani ware's prosperity from a side that is a bit different from the works you see in museums and galleries.
