Vegetable dyeing refers to the process of dyeing cloth by extracting pigments from flower petals, grass, and tree branches. This vegetable dyeing is also used in some of the dyeing techniques of Oshima Tsumugi. At Amami-no-Sato, you can actually dye handkerchiefs and other fabrics with plant dyes to create original handkerchiefs in deep colors. After the experience, you can take a walk in the elegant Japanese garden that shows the expressions of the four seasons and the Amami-style garden that reproduces the virgin forest of Amami.

“Amami no Sato” is a tourist facility where you can experience the nature, culture, and lifestyle of Amami, even though it is located on the mainland of Kagoshima Prefecture. It is a plan to make an original strap using Oshima Tsumugi thread produced in the workshop in the hall.
