Plan description

Vegetable dyeing refers to the process of dyeing cloth by extracting pigments from flower petals, grass, and tree branches. This vegetable dyeing is also used in some of the dyeing techniques of Oshima Tsumugi. At Amami-no-Sato, you can actually dye handkerchiefs and other fabrics with plant dyes to create original handkerchiefs in deep colors. After the experience, you can take a walk in the elegant Japanese garden that shows the expressions of the four seasons and the Amami-style garden that reproduces the virgin forest of Amami.

Memories of original items are completed in no time!

At the Amami no Sato experience corner, handkerchiefs are tied up with strings and rubber bands and dyed with pigmented Fukugi trees. You can take the finished handkerchief home with you.
